Ebay: How long to wait prior to leaving negative feedback?

Bought something off ebay 5 days ago and the item hasn't showed up yet. The seller didn't contact me and his email address bounces back. He has mostly positive feedback and a few negative items seem to be related to late shipping. So how long would it be appropriate for me to wait before flagging him? Also, any chance of me getting my money back? I paid through paypal.

give him more than 5 days.. Some sellers just ship the item immediately after receiving payment and don't send any emails unless you email specifically. Even if he sent the item by UPS Ground, you might not even get it by now depending on where you live. You can try and get his information from eBay and call him up if you want to contact him and his email is bouncing.

First of all I would attempt to call the seller by requesting their contact info.

My wife won an auction for a DVD, she paid promptly but the DVD wasn't shipped until ONE MONTH LATER. We didn't leave feedback because the seller hadn't left feedback and I was concerned about retalitory feedback. Eventually we received the DVD but had to wait a friggin' month.

So I would wait another 10 days or so.

Also read up on Paypal's Buy Protectin Policies.

It absolutely baffles me that Ebay doesn't do something about retaliatory feedback. Heatware doesn't allow it and I'd think Ebay was a considerably bigger outfit than Heatware.

It sucks, but considering the volume of ebay, it would be hard fund the manpower to do that.

i usually give them a negative feedback right after i make my paypal payment to the seller. I figured to kill 2 birds in 1 stone, get everything done at once.

I'd wait until it's like half an hour away until you can no longer leave a feedback. Leave the neg and the person can't retaliate.

The ability to leave feedback is not 90 days despite what the site says, its based purely on eBay's purging their DB- which is retained at least, but not limited to, 90 days. Ergo there is no "final half hour."

Damn, I thought there was that last half hour. I've never done this (haven't had the need to). I did read this somewhere though so I thought I might add this suggestion.
