Here is a log of the messages that have gone back and forth over the last few days:
From the 10th of Feb
Her:
"Hello,
I am following up again - I received the player just fine, but the DVD case for Children of Men was empty. I would like to receive the disc. Thank you."
Me:
"Hello, I'm positive I put the disc in the HD-DVD case before I shipped it. If you're having a problem playing the HD-DVD side, keep in mind one side is regular DVD and the other is HD-DVD."
Her:
"I am sorry, but there was no movie whatsoever in the DVD case when I opened it. Everything else was in perfect order and well shipped. However, the case was empty other than the usual literature on the left hand side. The two movies was one of the reasons I went with your auctions over others, especially because of the less commonly included Children of Men. Since memories sometimes fail us, would you please check around to make sure it isn't somewhere else, isn't in another player, didn't get misplaced, etc? Thank you."
Me:
"I've double checked the entire area and there is no extra HD-DVD. I tested the HD-DVD drive with Children of Men so it's hard for me to believe I didn't include it."
Her:
"I have been very nice and polite in my inquiries to you, but both of your replies have been sort of snide, and I don't appreciate it. I opened the packaging, the drive, and the DVDs. Children of Men is not included. With almost 500 positive transactions, you could perhaps assume that (1) I am smart enough to see if there is a DVD in a case or not and (2) that I am above board in my transactions. I would like your proposal on how to rectify this. I will gladly mail you the case in the event you find the DVD, but I would like some sort of appropriate credit. Thank you."
So that's where it is right now.
When I got the first message on the 10th I knew this wasn't going to be good. I was very glad that I was able to get rid of the HD-DVD player right after the warner announcement a month ago basically making all HD-DVD drives and media significantly go down in value.
I actually tried to sell this drive in the middle of last year but I forgot to include the installation disk and the guy couldn't get it installed. He sent it back before I could tell him he could download the newest disk from the Microsoft website. I was a bit unhappy about that but it was my fault because I did list it as one of the items in the package. I copied most of the auction details from a similar HD-DVD listing.
She says the main reason she picked my auction was because it came with Children of Men. I find it hard to believe that upon receiving the drive she wouldn't watch or test the movie with Children of Men but rather wait a month to open up the case.
As I said in my replies I did check and double check to make sure. If I found the disk here for some reason I would have no problem sending it to her right away. But it is nowhere to be found and I don't have that much junk that it would be lost. Also, since I messed up last year I made sure I included everything this time.
I'm wondering what I should do now and if there is any 30+ days rule that says people can't do things like this.
I apologize for the long post!
