EBAY auction SCAM. BUSTED!!!!

"The criminal complaint against Kim listed losses of $453,000 to 26 U.S. customers, eBay Inc. and Bank of America Corp. "

Anyone see a pattern here? If Ebay and BOFA got paid up I'd seriously doubt we'd be seeing this on CNN.

Bad part is the people who got scammed will probably never get their money back.. 🙁

Among other things. They've got huge flaws (that are practically criminal IMHO) in the system that only lead to more profits.

Build up your feedback for x amount of time, then start selling and not delivering.
Profit.
Move to foreign country.

Burn in hell.

:frown:

I have not been scammed (yet) so I don't have firsthand experience, but, from what I read it's pretty sucky if things go sour.

I doubt this can be fixed anytime soon either. From what I've seen about tracking down scam artists in the US it's a mess. Seems like no law enforcement agency wants to take jurisdiction, and it's not worth their time even if you do find one who could/should help you. Forget about dealing w/ foreigners.

Couldn't he have just moved to Mexico? Are there any other countries without extradition treaties?

24 years..but will he be spending it in a pound-me-in-the-ass prison??

Is there any other kind? 😉

I hope he gets bent over and given the 'feedback' of a lifetime! 😀

Hrmmmm..this is weird. I used to work for a Chris Kim for Cinetutor in City of Industry, CA. The company sold computers thru ebay, but was finally shut down for the same reason. He took in too many orders and could not handle it and basically the last 20-40 people got shafted when they went bankrupt along with the 20 or so people who had their systems in for RMA or repair.I think he just stole the money and ran. We got into an argument about customer service and honesty a few months before this and I quit, but that's basically the story as I know it.. I then heard he went on to start another company, but I have no idea what happened after that. If you search up Cinetutor on resellerratings and on google, there might still be stories and sites about the crummy service. Also, he had a partner in NY named John Mocombe. I wasn't sure who was the mastermind behind the whole thing. I was young and it was one of my first jobs.

does anyone know anything more about this case? I'm trying to find more info but all the other newspaper articles are basically the same....
