ebay auction question

say you have an auction going on ebay where your trying to buy something not sell. and people bidding think that your selling that product....should you have them pay a % at the end even though you know that they don't understand the auction, or send them an e-mail explaining what the purpose of the auction was, or cancel the auction.? if you want a link ask. DON'T BID lol

not really but i got bored and made one. needless to say i thought people would read the auction before bidding...

That's not how an auction works.

Basically, your auction is saying, "Hey! Why don't you guys (businesses) fight so you can sell me your product!"

It doesn't work that way. Firstly, ebay doesn't support bidding lower to win, which is probably what you will want. Hell, I could just go into your auction and bid $100000 and win. In your type of 'backwards auction', you would pay me that amount and I would give you your product which I assume would cost significantly less. Ebay isn't set up for doing this.

And secondly, this is not how our economy is set up. Businesses fight over you through their own marketing schemes that the consumers have to pursue. Businesses do not pursue consumers individually. It just wouldn't make sense.

No offense but to me this shows that you are either:
a) Too lazy to find a deal on something you want.
b) Trying to fool people out of their money. I equate your auction in the same fashion that punks sold people the box of PS2s when they first came out

Do yourself a favor and either cancel the auction or email all the bidders. Hell, maybe one of them even read the auction and is willing to sell it to you.

Also, send me the link so I can bid my $1000000 🙂 I assure you that you will get your product after I get the amount.

your 100000 theory is right from the way your thinking but that's not the way i did it
i was looking for a toyota celica all-trac posted auction here. take a look any questions ask, mainly i searched for a couple weeks and found hardly any all-trac's for sale so i'm like where could i go. so far i've had 20 people offering to sell me their cars, and some that didn't read the auction aparently.
the way i'm auctioning is you are bidding on my buying your car, which in turn i decided the auction is now just to have people send me e-mails to sell theirs. so this auction is doing just about everything i expected it to do. get people to offer to sell me cars. your thinking you bid 100000 i pay 100000 no...you pay 1000000 send that to me and i buy the item from you. your paying me to buy it...nevermind it did what i wanted.

should i end the auction, or just let it go to see what it gets up to. i've already informed the highest bidder that i'm not SELLING a car, the different color car pictures and 1 being left hand drive and the other being right hand drive must have threw the bidder off. that and nobody really uses ebay to look for stuff...

think i should cancel or just see what it get's up to?

WOAH! I didn't know you were letting people pay you to by their car. I should have thought of that a long time ago 🙂 I can see it now....
Ebay : "I WILL by your computer! Any kind you want! I WILL buy it! Reserve: $1000000" 😀 Easy money.

Back to the task on hand...
Car auctions are different from regular ebay auctions IMO. You COULD let it run but if it's possible, maybe edit the title to say WANTED or LOOKING FOR so people don't get suckered into it. I was wrong about the whole PS2 box thingie, your auction clearly states you're looking for a car and not selling it (my bad on that one). Granted it's not typical you see it on ebay, it's clearly stated so anybody who does bid should know the terms.

I'm not sure what I would do in this situation. Seeing as how you have 2 days left, I would certainly email all the bidders to make sure they know what they are actually bidding on and to make sure it's not a mistake on their part. Aside from that, I'm not sure what to tell you. Your auction seems valid, just make sure the bidders know what they're bidding on. Many ebayers get so click-happy that they don't even read the auction, just the title. Good luck!

check it again... it clearly says 90-93 toyota celica all-trac WANTED right in the title

i think i'll let it run out. the high bidder e-mailed me and asked how many miles it had and if i had more pictures, i clearly told them i was LOOKING for one and not selling it, they must have proxy because they are still high bidder. but i have not recieved word back on them acknowledging me looking for one and not selling one, i should ask for 10% when it ends, then offer to buy a car they don't have and i'll have had made an easy 50 bucks lol..but that's mean i'll prolly cancel at the last minute.

Against ebay policy. If someone reports you, your post will be deleted and you could possibly face suspension if you keep posting more up.

I think you violated Ebay's TOS in doing this, and if you were to demand 10% from them, I'd be all about you being forever banned from Ebay.

Well, it would be funny if the bid went through the roof and your listing fee was mad high hehehe
It would probably be smartest to cancel it...

What a bunch of frickin' morons - why would anybody bid on that without clearly reading what the auction was about?? Do they just like to look at the pretty pictures?
