So I won a sweet vid card on eBay for a sweet price. It's "mailed on the 13th" and suppose to "arrive on the 15th" according to the auction holder. But it's now the 20th and hasn't arrived. Please discuss.

Did the seller ship with delivery confirmation? Probably not but it's worth asking.

Aside from express mail, USPS offers zero timely guarantee on the delivery window. Officially, packages cannot even be declared lost until 30 days pass by. Priority mail is common to take over a week and up to two weeks during xmas.

UPS isn't really better, I have had packages that claimed 3 day delivery take more than a week.

But at least your package gets tracked with UPS so you know where it is, and if the tracking somehow stops they can declare your package lost a lot quicker. No go for USPS, you have no idea where it is and they will give you a mandatory loss period before you can even file an insurance claim.

UPS tracking is awfull many times. I had packages where the notice after they were picked up didn't happen until after it was delivered. Which is no better than the delivery comfirmation from the post office.

If you paid with paypal you should be able to get your money back as long as the other guy is confirmed and stuff. Just report that you never recieved the item. If he cant get a tracking number for it then you get your money back and thats it. Also, it may be delayed because they always get bogged down during christmas.

You do realize that it is Christmas time? It took a week for my sister to get a letter I sent and she is only 2 hours away.

UPDATE: Hey guys thanks for posting, very helpful information. As it turns out the person "recieved it back unexplained" and reshipped it via UPS. And now it's here after 4 days. Thank you for the large response.
