Ok would any ever buy a HDD off of ebay? Because you dont know what kind of condition it was in and you could end up with a dead HDD right? Can anyone suggest what would be a relatively safe buy?

Bottom line - you can buy a brand-new drive much cheaper from the "hot deals" forum than you'll pay for a used mystery drive on eBay.

Yep.

With 120GB Hard Drives for $59 or less with full manufacturer warranty, why buy USED from eBay with inflated shipping?

hard drives are so cheap, even when paying regular price at newegg or some other online store. i wouldnt risk ebay.

For example I want like 10HDDs for like maybe 10$ or 20$ and I would put it in a virtual raid (software) with windows 2000. They would be like maybe 5-20GB drives, just a curious thought. What about SCSI drives? I got a SCSI Controller for 50PIN drives and it supports like 7 IDs so was wondering if I could hook up a 7 connector drive cable (I think its very unlikely to be available). Thoughts?

The chances of you finding seven identical SCSI drives is fairly slim when it comes to eBay, to be honest.

If you can't find 7-connector SCSI cables, the best bet would be two four-disk caddies.

Yea I know the poll is a little redundant but there are varying levels of no, like HELL NO! Or Fsck no, (Coulda added that). Yes I would be buying used HDDs, question is where can you get a reliable drive/s for like $20? Or $10? Maybe I want a small capacity drive.

Listen closely, I will say this only once.

Do not buy used, cheap hard disks from eBay unless you are a glutton for punishment.

it's called donation 🙂
most pay out of their good heart that you are in need of quick cash. so why discourage others from buying at ebay who are actually helping others out financially?
plus ebay is making huge profit so it's a win win solution for you, ebay and your buyer 😀

People sell lots of identical SCSI drives on Ebay all the time.
