eBay - 0 feedback buyer buying my stuff with BIN?

sell your stuff on craigslist. I have sold at least 30 items and not had an issue. I sold an xbox 360 on ebay and sent it to a US address and the chargeback happens and I lost my 300 bucks. I had a tracking number and everything. I don't know how people can get away with this. Paypal should be the one liable for the fraudulent payment. That the reasons they are killing us with fees.

as for the OP. i was lucky to have an honest foriegn zero feedback ebay bidder. I sold a $1500 laptop and had to ship it to australia. his paypal acct and address was verified and was quick with communication so it relieved me a little bit. needless to say, i paid $300 to ship it there UPS with signature confirmation and insurance, just to cover my ass. I still ended up making about $400 from the deal because lenovo laptops are overpriced over there and the bidder was willing to pay the extra USD for it.

Not sure if serious. The over-paying foreign buyer thing is usually a dead give-away that they're using a stolen account to pay for it.

USPS is not true tracking, this is explained in Paypal's TOS/help.

The biggest problem I have with 0 feedback buyers is those that you can sort of get a feel they are the ones selling a competing item. All of a sudden the same 0 feedback buyer picks up all the competition.

I almost always require instant payment now. It's not 100%, but it stops a lot of BS.

Except CL is ghosting more and more ppl lately. I some how am ghosted now by what I think was the guy that I didn't agree to sell my wife's Saturn for $500 too. He got all irate about it.

most annoying thing now is how you can't leave negative feedback for people who don't pay, and you have to wait over a week to close the case and get the free relist option.

No shit. I just found that out recently when someone who won one of my auctions didn't pay. 😡 WTF?!

But i have known a couple guys at work getting screwed over and several more stories of those getting involved with buying stolen property.
 
I don't get it. I've never had an issue with scammers on ebay and I've sold tons of stuff on there. I do however have an issue with their fees and I'm really hankering for a better solution.

No one on ebay ever gets scammed everyone, proof presented. This guy never had an issue so therefore neither has anyone else. /thread, nothing more to see here.

The buyers defense to my tracking information is that he received a box, but it was empty. I responded with the fact that the tracking had the weight of the box. The buyer responded by saying that the box was full of old newspapers and not what he bought.

I am going through a situation now where I ordered a laptop power adapter on ebay and when I received the USPS priority mail box it was empty. Luckily the PO received it empty and stamped "RECEIVED UNSEALED" and "RECEIVED WITHOUT CONTENTS" on it. I contacted the seller and sent them pics of the box. It looks like they didn't seal the lid on the box and the adapter fell out after they sent it to the PO. They are sending me another one.
 
Are you people nuts for selling on ebay and not insuring? I always, always insure everything over $25 and make the buyer pay for it. That way if the item is lost, stolen, or a scammer or whatever, I still get my money back eventually (also ship USPS Priority). You people are crazy for shipping stuff worth hundreds and not insuring it, you're just asking for people to defraud you.

I always ship USPS Priority w/insurance if possible, + signature confirmation if the item sold over $250 as well (for the seller protection policy). It is more expensive (about $15 for a 2 lb. package) but for a $300 item it's worth it.
 
Just make sure he's not Outside of the US...I've ran into quite a few of those but they always wanted me to ship first or they would send a cashier's check..no no.

Be aware that Paypal now puts a hold on the funds from eBay until the buyer receives...so that could be an issue but it's not something the buyer has to do to release funds or anything...it's all automatic, think it's a 3-4 day hold or something?

Last time I used eBay to sell two laptops and a cellphone all at once, I was able to remove the funds from my paypal account instantly after they paid, no waiting at all.

Could have something to do with the monetary value, whether or not they'll "hold" the funds for a certain period but they didn't do it for me.
 
The hold paypal puts on your receiving your payments seem random. In the same week once I sold 3 items, one valued for $100, the other two $225 ish. They put a hold on one of the $225 and on the $100 but I got the money right away for the other $225. Figure that one out. lol
 
The holds are based on the product type. High value electronics and car audop type things usually het the hold.

In my case, tthe transaction went smooth. it's been almost a year and haven't heard anything since.
