eBay - 0 feedback buyer buying my stuff with BIN?

So I recently listed a large lot of VG related toys and a buyer with 0 feedback (and active only for two weeks) swooped in today and bought them. I received payment already but am still worried, due to the 0 feedback thing. The BIN price was over $500.

Can anyone tell me how this could (probably) go wrong and what I can do to protect myself?

I guess that's true. I was maybe hoping for some practical advice though just for peace of mind. Clearly, I will be getting tracking/signature confirmation on the item and taking a picture of it before it ships.

Is there anything else I could or should do in case of a dispute down the line?

It's ebay so it's always possible the moron buyer will be a pain in the ass.

Since he paid, I'd go with the flow. Just be careful if he tries to get you to ship to an address that isn't verified on their paypal account.

Don't see what the problem is if he already paid...gotta start somewhere.

Just because he paid, doesn't mean its not a scam.

I sold something on ebay for $350. He paid via Paypal. I sent the item with tracking. He got the item and left me positive feedback on eBay. A few weeks later he complained to PayPal that he never got the item. Paypal investigation ensuses, my tracking seems to have no value, I lost the Paypal case, and the guy got his money back. I never used eBay/Paypal again.

Just make sure to ship it with Fedex or UPS with signature confirmation to the address specified in the Paypal payment.

Why Fedex or UPS rather than USPS?

Did you get signature confirmation or just tracking?

Just personal preference. Their tracking is much better (often times USPS won't even scan your package at all until it gets delivered), and it's usually cheaper for anything that isn't lightweight. Insurance is also cheaper, and Fedex includes the signature required option for free if the insured value is $500+. Also with UPS and Fedex they have guaranteed delivery times, and you will know what day it is scheduled to be delivered based on the day you ship it. So it's nice to be able to tell the customer your package is scheduled to arrive on this day, rather than it will arrive in two to five days with USPS.

Just tracking, which is all the Paypal requires the sender to do.

The buyers defense to my tracking information is that he received a box, but it was empty. I responded with the fact that the tracking had the weight of the box. The buyer responded by saying that the box was full of old newspapers and not what he bought.

Having a signature wouldn't have helped in this case.

What about the positive feedback that you say he he left you.

Isn't that admission that he received it? No one in their right mind would leave feedback without opening the box.

I see. Sorry man, that really sucks.

I guess I'll do all of the above *and* film myself sealing up/shipping the package in the post office. If that ain't enough then I deserve to lose the cash.

I sold some football tickets recently. A new, zero feedback bidder was winning on the last day, and I didn't wanna deal with that, so I canceled and blocked his bidding. The eventual winner was another account with the same user name, just a bit different, with 20 something feedback. He paid and the paypal name matches both ebay accounts. Strange stuff.

As of November 2010, PayPal allows sellers to ship to alternate addresses provided by the buyer and still be under PayPal's 'Seller Protection' policies.

Leros, so you never got your items back did you?

It didn't seem to have any impact with the Paypal reps.

When Wii was hard to find, I sold one for $500 on eBay and the buyer paid right away through PayPal. Shipped to Canada the next day. THE SAME DAY, they claimed it wasn't received and got a full refund. PayPal refused to make it right. Lost it all.

you should be thankful that he paid you. last 3 items i've sold on ebay i've had 2 non paying bidders and had to relist them. 1 of the non paying was from a 0 feedback user.

most annoying thing now is how you can't leave negative feedback for people who don't pay, and you have to wait over a week to close the case and get the free relist option.

I had a similar experience. When I briefly worked for some Russian Mob guys who had several hundred accounts they used to facilitate their sales, I really quit.

i think anything above $250 you need a signature confirmation where the signature can be viewed online. eg. UPS or FedEx only =\

Just curious....what would have helped in this case?

Is there no defense to this kinda fraud?
