EB semi rant...

My son pre-ordered WoW CE from the local EB store and when I took him in to pick it up they didn't have enough of them. Thing was that he'd gone in there only a few days before and ask if he could still pre-order the CE. They told him no problem. But we get there and they don't have it but offer the regular retail version.

Seemed to me they were aware that they couldn't get the CE but got him to put money down on it thinking he would get it then turn around and say .. opps ... sorry but here's the retail version. He bought it but I told him he should have got his cash back and buy the retail somewhere else that didn't bait him. Oh well.

Sam goody did that to a friend of mine, which was ridiculous because I went in EARLIER that day, WITHOUT a down payment and grabbed a CE off the shelf.

EB Games is staffed by folks similar to those who work for Best Buy and nearly any other retailer for that matter. Such people feel as though they don't get paid to think, so they don't think. I hardly think it was the intention of the counter person at your local EB Games to play such a trick. Just chalk one up on stupidity on their side.

This is why I order direct from ebgames.com. If you pre-order something, you get it when it comes out, period.

and ... let's not forget that EBGames is pretty much guaranteed to have the highest price (or on part with the highest) on any new title. I pre-ordered HL2 then cancelled. $55? No thanks, I'll take my GoGamer Collector's Edition for $60.

It's not like you can't preorder something as insurance that you'll get it - if you find a lower price, nothing is preventing you from going into the store and cancelling your preorder. See, there's this little thing called a refund...
