Eating out

There are people I work with that say they "have no money", but they take their GF out to nice sit down restaurants and spend 50 or more dollars atleast once a week. We have also figured that they roughly spend $200+ a month in going out to bars/drinks and so forth. But then they bitch about not having money to us.

Am I just a cheap skate? I only go out with my fiance every 1-3 weeks. We find that spending a chunk of money on something that you are going to eat and then be hungry again in 12 hours or less, is worthless. We do go out, but I don't always see the advantage.

What do you guys think about this or people that do these kind of things? I don't think they realize how much money they blow a month and how it adds up, but their excuse is always "i get bored" or "i want to do something". I tell them to get a hobby.

*rant over* :x

i only care because there was a group of guys going to 2 bowl games this year...and 2 of them backed out because of money...they live together and do this twice a week. wouldnt you care if you had a "vacation" that was cancelled?

"WAS" is the key word...

but we were going to Champs to see Purdue (Alum) and Wisconsin vs Arkansas in Orlando

If blowing a $50 steak dinner down your gullet makes you happy, then steak it is.

OP, why do you care? It's their money, not yours. Spend more time focusing on your inner self, and not so much on what others are doing. 😉

They didn't back out because of money. They backed out because they didn't care enough about going to these games to make it happen. They blamed it on money in an effort not to hurt anyone's feelings.

You can be gracious about it, or not. Whatever floats your boat.

there is the philosophy of "I work to hard for my money to waste it on expensive food."
and "I work too hard for my money NOT to waste it on expensive food."

hahaha...so you're mad because these guys spent their money on taking their girlfriends out instead of spending time with you.

i already stated why i cared...

it is also a friend that struggles to pays bills from time to time from what i understand. I agree it is his life and leave it, but you would be this way still? If your close friend was blowing all their money and then you have to listen to them complaining all day...wouldnt that sh!t piss you off?

i agree with the live life and such, but blowing your money away is completely different than doing small things and saving money and then buying larger things when you save up. just my opinion....
