Eating Healthy / Losing Weight dilemma

Spooner

Lifer
I'm on a work project that has me living in a hotel Mon - Thurs every day through September.

Mon - Thurs my meals typically look like this:

Breakfast: Muffin, bagel, or some fruit w/ water

Lunch: Some sort of sandwhich, ruffles potato chips, pickle w/ water

Dinner: Something from Room Service w/ water

My meal options are VERY LIMITED, and while I have a gym at the hotel, I don't know how good it is (havne't had the motivation to check it out yet)

We have no car to buy groceries, and no refrigerator or cooking devices in the hotel room even if i could go to store

In this scenario... how the hell is one supposed to eat healthy?

Cut out the potato chips, eat bran cereal instead of muffins/bagels.

Up your fiber and cut out breads, starches, and pasta and you should be OK.

Good luck!

Try to avoid cards at dinnertime. For dinner get chicken, beef, or pork with a veggie on the side. Don't eat pasta, bread, etc for dinner. Can you eat anywhere else for lunch?

I would order Bacon and eggs, buffalo wings (spicy) and chicken breast strips with honey sauce.

the only places around here are sub/pizza type shops

If you really want to stay healthy and eat healthy, you can definitely do it. Forgive me for saying this, but I think it is not that hard to try eat healthy even when you're travelling all the time.

1. Don't eat the potato chip. look at the nutrition fact at the back of the package and you;ll know why.
2. Get lots of fruits. Eat fruits for your breakfast, dinner and snack time.
3. Try to eat 5 small meals a day instead of 2 big meals
4. When eating your bagel / muffin for breakfast, don't use any cream or butter or cheese. That should cut you down on fat.
5. For your dinner, even though you only have room service, I bet you can still order salad, chicken sandwitch or fish dinner. Try to avoid red meat and fatty dinner stuffs.
6. Go check out your gym at the hotel. I don't know what / how is your physique, but if you want to do a weight loss program, try to do cardio every 30 minutes at least on your work day Mon-Thurs. Do it after work, before dinner.
7. Try to do some weight training as well. Bigger muscle burns more fat.
8. When you go back to your hometown, pack some low calories snack. Get low fat crackers, snack bar and lots of fruits. I don't believe you can't pack all these and bring this with you to the hotel.
9. You said you can order pizza / sub for your dinner. Avoid Pizza like a plague. A single slice of pepperoni cheese pizza could land you in threadmill for 30 minutes just to break even. It's not worth it, is it 😉. Get healthy sub instead for your dinner if needed. Don't get footlong sub, get 6 inch with white turkey breast, non fat cheese and vegetables.

All in all, if you have enough determination, I don't see how you can't lose weight / live healthy even when you're living away from home in a hotel.

Hope all my boring speech improve your determination 🙂

Btw, I lost almost 40 lbs in 6 months from 193 lbs to 155 lbs. I believe you can do better.

My physique isn't that bad. I'm 6'1", about 185lb. I'm not really fat by any means, but I definitely have a little stomach to get rid of. I'd also really like to build some muscle, since I have a grand total of about none.

My real dilemma is getting the motivation to hit that damn free gym

Ditto. I eat Fiber 1 cereal with soy milk and strawberries for breakfast. A lot of fiber and it's really good!

No junk food either!

Meal replacement powders and bars. Nuff said. There is almost no reason to ever have to eat poorly.
I was seriously considering going this route.

Reccomendations? Price? Can I use the powders with no access to a mixer? Do these things actually fill you up?
