Eating healthy and smoking... ironic?

Maybe just to me... but sitting here in one of the Wireless LAN areas of campus, I am observing the behavior of this elderly woman sitting before me. She sat down next to these two girls and lit a cigarrette driving away almost everyone within her vicinity. I just thought it was funny that she started eating a salad. I would figure one wants to eat healthy to preserve life, yet she's on her third cigarrette now. Hmm.. I guess the salad is to negate the effects. Either way... glad I'm not sitting down wind. 😛
Doesn't it just suck when like a bunch of people are sitting there studying and suddenly one person comes in with a cigarrette and basically claims the entire territory? Same thing with like standing in line for something and someone busts out a cigarrette. I respect peoples rights to smoke (eventhough I don't) but they seem to not respect my right for not wanting to inhale second hand smoke. I think it should come down to whoever was there first. And if someone is already smoking at a place, I gladly avoid it. Unfortunately, the opposite isn't true.

May I help you sir?
Yes, I'll have a double whopper with cheese, a super-size french fry, and a Diet Coke.
Thank you, pull ahead.

What's wrong with that, bozo1?
I get diet cokes when I get fast food b/c normal coke is too sugary, plus it's 300 extra calories that I otherwise wouldn't miss.

Or, when I was in the donut business, "Give me two bear claws, a jelly and a Tab, please".

BTW, CirekL, in my continuing effort to insure that equilibrium is maintained in the universe I will tell you that I smoke, and eat only crappy, high fat, high sugar content food. Feel better now?

Smoking maybe unhealthy, but its great for dietary reasons. Combining healthy food with cigs is a great way to lose weight. In my health class, the prof stated that only two things raise ur metabolism, thats excercise and smoking. Thats why most models smoke and only drink water 🙂

Even better is that wacko that goes out to the gym and works out for an hour and half and then lights up on his way home.

😕

Diet? What's so diet about diet coke? The chemicals used to make it "diet" are worse for you than the original crap in the original Coke. :disgust: But it's got lots more caffeine -and that's a-okay. 😀

The best was the people, who when I worked at a movie theater over the summer, wanted their popcorn LAYERED with lots of butter, and a diet coke to go with it.

I started smoking Before it was deemed bad for your health so I take exception to this comment

No offense, but I always thought it was common sense that inhaling any kind of smoke would most likely be bad for you....

Did you stop, or are you still a pawn of the tobacco companies? If you quit, then I can accept your statement. If you continued smoking after you knew it is harmful then I agree with X951.

You would think this...but...
Back in the 50's and 60's, some doctors even said smoking was good for you.

No offence, but you're flat out wrong.

I can beat that. My room-mate goes out jogging all the way to the gym with a cigerette in his mouth. Wakes up in the morning sometimes and drives up in the mountains. Like I say to him, nothing like healthy fresh air, sunshine, and a cigerette.

Thank you Sammy, but Jzero answered my question nicely.

I like living in Cali because smokers get kicked outdoors 🙂

if i want to have a nice healthy salad and mr pibb, i don't have to inhale smoke as well

Apparently you don't realize that cigarettes are PHYSICALLY addictive. Ever notice how many products there are to quit smoking?

Yup, pretty much. I saw an ad (I can't find it right now, sorry) which said that even though doctors previously might have recommended tobacco to smoke for certain ailments, they discovered plenty of new things about it. I guess Azreale felt differently simply because of the incredible amount of anti-smoking messages there are these days.

It also sucks that today in my EE class I was sitting next to this guy who had disgusting bad breathe + smokers breath and smelled like cigarrette smoke. Everytime he yawned, I felt like getting up and running away. BTW, he came in late and sat down next to me, so I had no choice.
