After 23 years studying over 16,000 American adults, researchers of the study recorded just under 5,000 deaths. After controlling for health issues, they determined that the participants who ate hot red chili peppers were 13 percent less likely to die than those who did not.

According to The New York Times, although the findings are purely observational, capsaicin, the component that makes chili peppers spicy hot, "has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that may be linked to disease prevention." (Capsaicin is used in some salves to combat joint or muscle pain, for instance.) As The Timesnoted, a recent study conducted in 2015 in China produced similar results.

John Connor, you are going to die!

Is that sriracha made in China too? Not too concerned myself. That shit is hot as hell!

I do love black and red pepper. Red pepper on Pizza is the bomb! Not too much though. Just enough for a spicy taste.

Hot peppers also kill your sense of taste over time, like hot coffee and tea, as far as I know.

Hot food and cold air are the keys to a long and good life.

Lies. Put me on a beach with some good eye candy walking around, some palm trees, a fishing pole and a cooler and I bet I'll last longer than being in a 'cold air' environment. That shit sucks.

HA! Is that why the California rolls I buy that are made fresh at the store by Japanese people are spicy as hell and served with wasabi?
Wasabi's a different kind of heat. I forget what the chemical's called, but it's not the capsaicin of peppers. Horseradish/wasbi's good for you too though.

That's good to know, I like hot/spicy stuff. Though I find it can make my nose runny if I eat something too hot. But I will eat a hot pepper raw given the opportunity. Usually at restaurants as they are often in the salad and nobody wants them lol. They are tasty as hell!

The Wegamans near me has sushi made by Japanese, and the wasabi is real wasabi. Fresh made every morning.

My local Publix has an Asian Guy making the sushi fresh daily, he looks competent but to be honest I've never tried it there. I've spoken to him politely a few times.

I've just cruised by and looked now and then, the wife I had a hard enough trying to get her to even eat grouper in the past, she finally admitted defeat on that one and loves it now.

California Rolls usually are one of the more generic of sushi to begin with, they are not hot from the start to begin with in my past experience.
