I usually took a flame to a razor blade and started cutting down deep enough to get it out. It's kind of messy but doesn't hurt as much as you would think if you use a very sharp blade.

yeah the splinter will move along with the skin it's embedded in, so when the layer of skin it's embedded in eventually reaches the surface, it will fall out. I think your body would make some sort of callous around the splinter so it doesn't go any farther in.

I have skin like leather. Usually I just soak my skin until it becomes pretty easy to work the splinter out. This one is a bit deeper.

Depends what the splinter is made of. A glass splinter might not get infected if you wash the wound well, but it won't break down - hope it works its own way out. A wood splinter is not going to be sterile and will likely get infected unless it comes out.Originally posted by: xospec1alk
