MARYSVILLE, Ohio — New video released on Thursday from a cruiser's dash camera showed the shooting death of a man who led officers from three agencies on a chase.

Video from the Union County Sheriff's Office shows deputies following Rickie Diamond Jr. during a 25-minute pursuit on Tuesday night, 10TV's Kevin Landers reported.

Deputies, along with Marysville Police officers and Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, joined in the pursuit of Diamond, who was wanted for questioning in connection with a domestic dispute.

Diamond had been involved in a fight with his father at a home in the northern part of the county, Landers reported.

Deputies tried to use stop sticks to stop Diamond's pickup, and one point he blew out a back tire. That is when a deputy closed in, ramming the pickup, Landers reported.

Video from inside a Marysville Police cruiser showed Diamond exiting his pickup with a shotgun.

Deputies said Diamond opened fire on them. They returned fire, hitting Diamond four times and killing him, a coroner said.

The officers involved the shooting were all placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation, which is standard procedure.

"The last thing I said to that deputy when he left here was 'Don't you (expletive) kill my son,'" the elder Diamond said yesterday afternoon.

But yet:

Over the years, deputies have frequently been called to the Diamond home for fights, domestic disputes and various complaints. Diamond had, in the past, been charged with menacing, assault and some other petty crimes. When he was shot, he was wanted in Champaign County for failing to appear in court on an old case.
And a brawl in which he and his father were stabbed at his sister's wedding reception four years ago was infamous in the area.

I feel for the guy that his son is died but what else can a cop do when someone has a 12 gauge shotgun leveled at you from just a few feet away what it looks like in the video.

The dash cam was at a fixed position anyway and it looks like he was well out of the frame when he got plugged, sucks when anyone has to die but if you pull a shotgun on a LEO and start blazing, tuff shit, you deserve to get killed. Regardless about how you might feel about cops that man has a right to finish his shift alive and go home..
