Easy way to do this?

Any software you guys would recommend to convert XviD videos to iPod format and throw them into iTunes? Free is always good, but not required.

It'd be nice if it automatically put it into iTunes, but this isn't required either. It just needs to be able to play on my iPhone 3G :D

I would guess that Handbrake or MPEG Stream could, otherwise, you might be have to do it with VLC

Stream Output it, Open-->File-->Stream/Save Settings-->Play locally, select teh stuff you want and it should work. It's been I while since I've done it, but should work.

QuicktimePRO should be able to do it, too. I say "should" because I always seem to have problems with converting formats... as in... the file it outputs is always crap quality or GINORMOUS in size. (like... 4x-6x the original.)

I found the perfect solution. Converts any format, has a super easy to use interface (with iPhone presets and all), and automagically puts it into iTunes.

VisualHub.

Thanks for your time anyways, guys :p

Another vote for VisualHub. If you don't want to pay, the free version, iSquint, works well if all you're doing is converting for your iPod.

The full version of VisualHub is possibly worth the money if you need to convert a lot of video, or splice videos together... but I have yet to find a splicer that will simply tack one file onto the end of the other without reconverting along the way (QuicktimePro is close, but I only have so many files in .mov)

PC has Videora, which will do the job, and it's free. Not as user friendly, but it's free.

I'm just using iSquint now, it's fine :)

do post if you ever find one, heh.

And yes, I really wish there was a visualhub for Windows.

Will do. I mean, if the files are .MOV then I can just fire up Quicktime Pro and drag and drop. I then save the file and I am done. The resultant file is barely larger than the sum of the parts. But nothing else seems to be able to do this. If only Quicktime Pro could save into more formats, I would have my answer.

I'd actually like the reverse program as well.. split up video files w/ ease w/o recoding, or at least encoding into xvid/divx.
