Easy to hit 4ghz on a 955BE?

I'm trying to make a decision to move from my 3ghz Q9450 to a 955BE or not, and was wondering how easy a 4ghz OC would be on a 955. I'm sure there's a lot of old AMD guys out there (like I traditionally always was) who know this through and through. I've seen in reviews that the 965 does 4ghz with only slight voltage tweaking. Thanks in advance

Stay with your 9450. my 550BE wouldn't even unlock, and even if it did, I can only get it to 3.8, and my 9450 beat my I7 in PPD for F@H @ 3.4 ! And its at 3.7 with HT on !

Edit: I know its only one app, but really, a PHII is slower clock/clock than a C2Q

Mark, your 9450 beats an i7 a F@H? My dual-5680s tore the ass out of my retired dual 5450s by around 170% and that was around the same price point, just a year later.

I really would not make the switch, Phenom II tops out in the 3.8-4.0Ghz range usually, with a few lucky people getting higher. Your odds of 4.0Ghz are fairly good, but with Phenom II being slower clock for clock than Core2, you won't be seeing a big jump in performance. Just not worth the switch in motherboard/cpu unless you need to have better performance for something.

Something is wrong with Folding on your i7 rig.

I score 14k PPD with SMP and 8 cores.

i7 @ 3.6Ghz HT on

I would keep what you have to be honest.

If you must, you'd be better off waiting for the 960T from AMD at least; a more sure fire way to get 4ghz due to the new design process of the six core part (minus 2 cores, which might possibly be unlockable).

Pretty good advice in this thread though I'd hold off.
