Hi All,
finally took the plunge and went AMD/NF4/PCIe. Got a DFI LAnparty, Opteron 170 dual and a 2x1GB kit of GSkill VX. Got everything up and running for the past 2 days 10x250 with mem at 5/6, mem timings stock 2-3-2-5 1t, CPUz shows mem freq at 208. Machine is P95 stable and flies compared to my old P4.
Anyway, this mem will in no way run at the above at 1/01 or even the step below, can't remember the divider but its mem 180. I haven't tried the Opty any higher as I want to break it in over the next week but its doing the 2500 at 1.35vcore (+104) and idles 35c, dual P95 loaded 100% it will climb to 50-54C (XP90/92mm fan) so it may even do more!
My question, I have just seen a deal on some Mushkin Extreme DDR, black PC4000 3-4-3-8. Supposedly guaranteed to do 250 1/1. It would cost me approx another $25.00 US to "upgrade" the ram
I know that the mem dividers aren't as important with these setups but is it worth my time and money to swap the PC3200 for the PC4000?
TIA
Mike G
oops almost forgot: the Opteron 170 is a CCBWE 0541 RPMW for those who are tracking the weeks and corresponding OCs
