Easy CD Creator V4.05 and win ME???

I am currently running on windows 200 professional with easy cd creator 4.05 and direct cd 3.05, but have many friends that run windows ME. When I attempt to burn cd's with various files for them, they cannot read the cd's. I'm assuming it is a compatibility issue with the way the cd's are formatted and the windows ME operating system. I have tried both options for formatting the disks: "leave disk open so it can be written to in a later session" and "formate disk so that most computers can access this disk through a regular cd rom". The second option mentions the windows 95b, 98, and 200 operating systems but not windows ME. Is there something I am doing wrong? Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it? Do I need an upgraded version of either cd creator or direct cd? Let me know
 

Try writing the CD file system as ?ISO9660? (within CD-Creator go to FILE -> LAYOUT PROPERTIES -> FILE SYSTEM), I assume you?re using ?Joliet? which might be causing compatibly problems with other systems; ISO9660 is a ?universal? CD file system ? you?ll be able to read it on MAC, Unix, Windows, DOS, etc.

This makes me think you're using CD-RW media? If so, the other computers you share CD-RW media with may need a helper program to access the data on your disc (this has been my experience when taking CD-RWs from Win-2k to WinNT4) - check the software documentation for more information.

 
Why are you formatting the cd's at all?

Just get a regular cd-r and DO NOT USE DIRECT CD. Go through the Create Cd icon or whatever it is and choose data, or audio or Copy cd to cd.

That should work fine. Sounds to me like your using direct cd which is known for this issue.
 
No, Escalade. I am using cd-r's. That much I can tell you for sure. I'm not farmilliar with this ISO9660 option. Where would I find that? A.K.A., i hadn't thought about just clicking the data button. I will try that as well. Any other suggestions?
 
<BLOCKQUOTE dir=ltr style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px">The fix is real easy . . . stop using Direct CD. It is not intended to "burn" CDRs for general use, but for your use only as a pseudo drive. The program is so full of pitfalls and bugs that it is not worth installing.

ISO (International Standards Organization) 9660 is the standard format for CDs for general use. Unless otherwise specified, ALL CDR files are ISO9660. That is the default.</BLOCKQUOTE>

well, i burned a cd using easy cd creator instead of direct cd and gave it to one of my friends that has win me, but she hasn't tried it out yet. I'll let you know when i get the results.
 
well, the cd i burned didn't work for my friend, but I did forget to change the format from joliet, so i'm going to try it again
