"easy" areas in medicine

Inspired by the "I'm going to see the chiropractor" thread.

I am sickof software. Anyone know how long itw ould take to get into sports medicine or become a chiropractor? Any fields in medicine that don't involve cutting, novacane, etc? Maybe an oral hygenist would work. They get big bucks.

Thoughts anyone?

hahahahahaa. Actually, that isn't a bad idea. Now talk about fields where peole get paid WAY TO MUCH. Might have to work Saturdays though (boooo) Not a bad idea.

Pharmacy techs work under the supervision of a pharmacist to count out pills.

Chiropractic is NOT medicine. It's hogwash.

Becoming a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) is reletivley easy. You have to get a BSN (Bacheleor's of Science in Nursing), and then gain at least one years of expereiance as an RN, then you go back to school for a year and get your CRNA Certification. There is no residency, and in myare, the starting salary is $100k-$120k/year. In areas with a higher cost of living (im in upstate NY, NOT to be confused with NYC, cost of living is very low here), you might start at as much as $160k/year.

Well payed hogwash in some areas. Mean salary in Alaska for a chiropractor is 145k/year

After doing an engineering degree (which pay less than half that), it sounds liek a cakewalk.

My Anesthesia friends started at 350-500K straight out of residency in private practice. University practice pays less but you dont work as much since you're mostly supervising residents.

Pharmacy. My cousin talks about how bad his wife did in school and barely graduated but she's still making ~80k. Basically the computer tells you everything and you just repeat that to the customer.

I had a friend go to Kaiser college and get her license for massage therapist. took her under a year.

agreed, you get really good chiropractors (few but not at all scarce), and you get people that just pop a few joints for temporary relief.

Retail and clinical pharmacists are entirely different spectrums. I'm volunteering in a hospital pharmacy for the summer as a pre-req for applying to the professional pharmacy after the upcoming fall semester. I get to watch what real pharmacists do: mix/verify chemo and IVs, give counseling to doctors on drugs for patients, etc. Its not a walk in the park. The hospital i'm at is small and we have...4 to 5 pharmacists on staff at all times except for night shift, which has 2. That said, even though clinical pharmacists do a lot more work, its definately where I want to be.
