Long Johns? We have them in Ky, usually chocolate but also available in maple at the local places.

Usually available in creme filled and not.

But yea, more often they are chocolate.

In Ohio I always see them called Long Johns. They are in every donut case around.

Uh... doubt it dude, in 30+ years I'll be bangin' your daughters if not grand daughters.

unfortunately for you (and fortunate for rest of the planet) in thirty years you will still be banging the same thing you are banging now, your hands.

I've never heard of a "maple bar" but maybe its just a name for some common maple treat.

Maple frosted donuts are pretty common, maple creamies, sugar on snow (I still don't get this), maple milk shakes, maple candy (if I eat two pieces I feel like I'm gonna barf and I love super sweet stuff), maple syrup sausage and bacon, obviously pancakes and waffles. I love maple, but its kind of out of control sometimes. Everywhere has maple hard ice cream right?

Related to regional differences in food availability...Labatt Blue beer is everywhere around here, but I went on vacation on the Maine coast once and when I asked for it they looked like I'd just asked them for imported viking mead microbrew and had never even heard of it. Which was all the more strange since the area was infested with Quebecers.

Maple bars freakin' rock! I've even had the bacon maple bar from Voodoo, and it's even more awesome than it sounds. My dad loves them too, he told me he used to throw down a dozen and a quart of milk for breakfast when he bailed hay in high school.

Silly east-coasters, and their silly non-descriptive names.

Maple bar = Bar shaped donut with maple on it. Dur.
Long john = Wow my legs are cold. I think I'll put these on.
Maple eclair = o_O

And chocolate donuts are vastly inferior to maple.

I loves me some GOOD maple bars...but sadly, most bakeries don't use REAL maple in the frosting...they use imitation maple. :(

AFAIK, there's only one donut shop here locally that uses REAL maple...and their maple bars are worth the extra drive. (I pass 5-6 other donut shops to get there) Of course, ALL their many donut offerings are superior to the run-of-the-mill donut shops.
