Easiest way to use a computer as NAS?

Take a deep breath a use linux. A debian instal would get the box up and running in minutes, and you can select 'file server" for it to auto install samba. Add a couple users, configure SSH for your tastes, put it in the closet and use SWAT to configure (not sure if you can add/remove users with swat)

cool...however, are there any detailed instructions to do this in case I get stuck or fvck something up. Thanks man
