It was a cake walk, and seems to be just as stable at 3Ghz as it was at 2.4. 🙂

Stock voltages all all around, and stock CPU cooler as well.

Once a few more paychecks roll in, I'll get a better CPU cooler and a fan for the NB. 🙂

 
i'm somewhat baffled. you spent several hundred $$ on a brand new setup yet you have to wait for a "few more paychecks" to get yourself a CPU cooler? what did you plan on getting? an LN2 tank with accessories?!?

Some people don't spend all their money on a cpu cooler ....

Maybe he just makes enough to spend $30 on non neccessities

I make 400$CDN a week but spend about $5 a week

or how about a place with a constant supply of really cold air which just happens to be near a good ski air ? a ski cabin with a computer lab for those winter apres-ski overclocks. :thumbsup: 🙂

Just curious, why did you go for that particular mobo? My plan is to get the same CPU and strive for a similar OC (gotta love a 600 MHz oc on stock voltage & hsf), but I had planned on using the P5W DH Deluxe or P5B Deluxe. I haven't seen as many people using the Abit boards, but those that do seem to be happy with them.
 
I love Abit boards, I had an Abit 945 board that got smoked by a bad power supply. I now run an MSI P965 Neo, and I *HATE* it. It's one of the worst boards I've ever owned. Hit the power button, nothing happens for like 3 seconds, then it starts powering up. Has a horrible Jmicron Sata/IDE controller that wouldn't work past ATA33 until some beta drivers came out, won't overclock at all, no cpu voltage options. My E6400 won't go past 2.3Ghz on this board. Debating between an Asus, Gigabyte, or Abit board as a replacement.

I wanted a board that had solid state capacitors, as well as a robust chipset cooling system, robust BIOS options, etc. There were also several other feature requirements that I had, such as 6 internal SATA ports.

Abit is a brand that I've had good luck with in the past, in fact one of only two brands that I've never had any problems with. It was between the Asus 650i board and the Abit IN9-32X MAX, and the Abit had better features than the Asus. Since Asus was revising their 680i board, and the Striker was way too expensive, I went with the Abit. Still expensive, but not quite as expensive.
 
I'm running the same thing, but am pretty much maxed out (e6600 @ 333x9 on an Asus P5B-Deluxe). I think I got one of the crappy e6600's.

But at stock voltage, and a Zalman 9700 HSF, this thing runs cool at 30C/45C.

Your at 2997 GHZ, push it a little bit to break 3 GHZ.
What batch is your E6600 F? It should be a number something like this L631B121
When did you purchase it?

CPU-Z reads 3000.1ghz for my system. I guess when I set the FSB to 333, it actually sets it to 333.3, because CPU-Z rates my FSB @ 1333.33. I got the "G" core, L647G436, got it from Newegg right before the big price drop :/

Hehe, I never actually got around to purchasing a better CPU cooler. Things come up that require funds to be diverted to other efforts. Sometimes I wish I could tap some of my long term investments for trivial things, but thats a dumb idea.
