Easiest browser for noobs?

One of my friends parents are well........Uber noobs.

Anyways I am thinking Google Chrome would be the best choice.

What would you say is the most NOOB friendly browser?

I installed Chrome on my parent's machine and it's been working well. The bar to type a URL and search is convenient. The STAR for the bookmarks bar is convenient, and there's really nothing they can muck up.

Downloads are a bit of an issue. You don't get an OPEN/SAVE/CANCEL popup like IE/FF, just the little popup at the bottom. Had to show then a few times till they got used to it.

If you're referring to Chrome's default behavior of automatically saving to My Documents/Downloads/...

Options-->"Under the Hood" tab-->Downloads section-->check "Ask where to save each file before downloading".

But yeah, no dialog window remains open, no "run" option, just the status icons at the bottom or a menu link to all downloads.

I haven't used Chrome so I don't think I'd comment on that. I would say that IE has a terrible interface these days after they moved all the buttons and options. I think Opera is the best, but you have to learn it so it's not a good idea for older people who aren't computer savvy.

In all honesty all browsers are more or less the same. I would leave your parents with IE if only because 1) There is going to be less compatibility problems; pages are written to run under IE, and it can be hit or miss if it works in another browser 2) It is the best browser for catching things like phishing sites (Which tends to be what "noobs" fall for so often) and 3) It's always going to be up to date. You'll install it once and it will more or less take care of itself.

I'd say IE8 simply because not all websites are compatible with FF or Chrome. A real layman would probably be very confused if they hit a page that did not render properly.

Yep, IE8 with proper security settings and automatic updates enabled will do fine.
