Easy, from the mind of person 3, he can conclude that he doesn't have a red dot because.

-Person 1 and 2 both have their hand up and neither knows the answer.

-if I had a red dot, then person 2 must have a green dot because person 1 raised his hands which means either me or person 2 has a green dot. If I had a red dot, then it follows that person 2 has a green dot.

-if person 2 sees that I have a red and he realizes that person raised his hands, that means person 2 must have a greed dot. Therefore, since person two didn't know that he himself didn't have a green dot, it follows that I have a green dot.

Easy eh? :)

he would see two other people with their hands raised, if the 2 other people had dots, or if everyone had dots. You can't really differentiate between them without some questionable reasoning.

OK this is what I think:
Lets call the three guys A, B ,C

There are only two combinations where all three guys raise their hands: either 2 out of 3 are green, or all three are green. (If only A is green, then B+C would have their hands raised, but not A.)

Scenario 1 : A and B are green, C is red
A sees B (green), raises hand
B sees A (green), raises hand
C sees A/B (green), raises hand

A can conclude that he MUST be green (knowing that B raised his hands even though C is red)
B can conclude that he MUST be green (same logic)
C cannot conclude what color he is.

Scenario 2: All Green
Everyone raises hand.
Each person is unsure of what color he is, and thats why he can deduce that he is green.
If he had been red (hence the 1st scenario) then the other two would have quickly figured out that they were green. So he knows that it is the second scenario, where everyone is green.

I read the marbles question a couple times and I don't see where you can't remove a marble from each of the bags. And when I'm thinking of a scale, I'm not thinking of the digital kind, I'm thinking of the balancing kind (like Lady Justice holds)... I'm probably assuming too much, and I'm sure ya'll will let me know if I am...

Remove a marble from each. If one weighs more than the other, then the lesser weighing one is 9 grams. If they weigh the same, then the 3rd is the one w/ 9g marbles.

Doh. 10 bags. See, it stuck in my mind that there were only 3 for some reason. I guess I was still thinking of the 3 guys! Ya'll are making me think too much for it being 3:45AM!

But I was only using the scale once... balancing scale...

hehehe, I will solve another for my second post ;)
Artwood: the answer is 49. while most people would think that one cig would be 7 butts, therefore 49 divided by 7 would be 7 cigs. Each butt is a cig in itself so he smoked 49.
anyway, good luck with mine.

8?

49 butts / 7 parts = 7 full cigarettes, each of which produce a butt that can form an eigth cigarette?

Pm's are on now.
Well you say that they are allready smoked , so in reality he smokes 0 ciggarettes. However, you say that 7 makes one ciggarette and with 49 butts found that would be 7 full cigarettes. However I believe the answer to be 49, seeing as each butt is a cigarette to me.

uh.. it really wouldnt be 8 tho... u cant exactly "make" a cig out of 7 butts :) ie, taking them together... it'd be very hard to leave a butt after smoking 7 butts put together.... and even if he did...i dont think he'd leave a full 1/7th of the cig unsmoked.... because hes a bum... hed smoke it way past the average :D

Okay, it's too early in the morning for me to make any sense, but here goes:

Given:
(2) uniform [-1,1] random number generators
(1) comparator
(1) adder
(2) multipliers

Estimate Pi.

Okay, no one's posted a new riddle, so I am taking it upon myself to give the next one:

The beginning of eternity
The end of time and space
The beginning of every end,
And the end of every place.
