Easier riddle for you guys to solve :)

Here we go!

The King is about to die. He sends messengers throughout the land seeking for the 3 smartest people. Finally 3 are found. He gives them a task to see which one is the wisest. He tells them, "I will seat you in a triangle so that each of you faces the other two. Then I will blindfold you and paint either a red or a green dot on each of your foreheads. When I remove the blindfolds each of you must raise your hand if you see any green dots. As soon as you have figured out what color your own dot is, lower your hand and tell me." So he seats them, blindfolds them, and then paints a green dot on all three foreheads. When the blindfolds are removed, all three hands go up. After a long pause, one hand comes down and the man says, "Your highness, I have a green dot." How did he know?

I am trying!!! The fact that you stuck the word 'easier' in the title is making me rather frustrated 🙂

btw, is this a lateral thinking puzzle or is it straight logic?

Maybe one of the guys across from him is bald and buffs his head like a mirror and he could see himself? 🙂

I believe he is right! 😉

Because the only way to get a green pigment in the kingdom was through a stripping of a local fruit with muriatic acid. Residual acid remains in the dye, and finally it started to burn like a bitch. Therefore, he knew his dot was green.

<< b/c when everyone raised their hands, the guy knew that the other two saw green dots b/c the king said, When I remove the blindfolds each of you must raise your hand if you see any green dots. thats plural, more than one dot and all men saw 2 dots

is this right?

nope, cant be..... if you look up and see only one green dot, did you see any green dots? DUH

Man, you can't be serious!?! So it's a play on words?

naw, you told it wrong. they are supposed to raise one hand if they saw a green dot and two hands when they know what their dot was. Regardless. here is the solution.

When the blindfold comes off, three hands go up. At this point, nobody is exactly sure what the color of the dot on their own forehead is. So the guy (let's call him number 1) that figured it out sat there and said to himself, "I am either red or green. I see two greens. What if I am red?" From this he concludes that if he is red, then the other two are seeing one red and one green.. Still under the premise that number 1 is red, the second guy (say number 2) would say to himself, "I see one red and one green and if I am red, then the third guy would be seeing two reds, but since all three hands came up, there would have to be at least two greens and the second guy doing the figuring would know that he has to be green. But he did not know and did not volunteer to tell what his own color was. In other words, the premise that the successful guesser (number 1) was red broke down because neither of the other prisoners knew what their own color was. Therefore, if number 1 had been red,one of the other two would surely have figured it out. In other words, the premise on the part of number 1 that he was red broke down and therefore number 1 knew by the process of elimination that he was green.

and on that note I will leave you with a riddle of my own.

There are ten bags containing marbles. Each bag has at least 10 marbles in it. Nine of the bags contains only marbles weighting 10 grams each. One of the bags contains only marbles weighing nine grams each. Each bag has a different number of marbles in it. All of the marbles look exactly the same. The riddle is how can you know which bag has the nine gram marbles if the only device allowed to be used is a weighing scales which you can use only once?

He obviously sees two green dots (they're all green). AND it's obvoius to the contestents there must be at least two green dots (they all raised their hands; this can only be done with a minimum of 2 green dots). So, if one opens his eyes and sees one green and one red, he should IMMEDIATELY know that his is green, because he only sees one and knows there must be two. However, since no one knew their color immediately (as the riddle states), the winner knew that everyone saw 2 green dots, and therefore concluded his was green.

Oops, I didn't read it carefully.

UofODuck: take 1 marble from bag 1, 2 from bag 2, ... ,10 from bag 10 and weigh them all at once. Ignore the multiples of 10g and only concentrate on the last digit. The bag with 9 gram marbles will give you a multiple of 9.
If it's bag 1, it'll end with 9g,
bag 2, 8g
bag 3, 7g
...
bag 10, 0g

you are very very wrong.. read the question again... "When I remove the blindfolds each of you must raise your hand if you see any green dots"
