Earthink DHCP problems

I am having trouble getting a site setup on wireless using DHCP. I can enter the WPA key and put in a static address and I am connected wirelessly so the connection works, but if I go to DHCP I get nothing. I am running Earthlink with a Xyzel P-600 modem and a Linksys WRT54GS router. I have read something about Earthlink charging some sort of fee for additional computers, but I don't understand why I cannot connect through DHCP on wired or wireless. I have checked the basic router setup and have the 'DHCP Server enabled'. I don't know where else I could check.

It is similar to my verizon modem. If you are using the xyzel p-600 modem with DHCP enable, you should plug the wire to one of the switch port on the linksys as to the WAN port. If there is a way to have your earthlink modem as a bridge between the internet connection and your Lan then you would plug the cable from the modem to the WAN port on the linksys.
