Actually all it would take to send the moon flying into us would be to slow it down a bit.

I recommend putting all of the world's refrigerator magnets on the moon, and then wrapping the earth with wire. That way, not only would we be slowing down the moon, we'd have a free source of electricity until we die.

Why refrigerator magnets?

Why refrigerator magnets?

Because... all our food would go bad and we would die.

If a Giant star like betelgeuse within the vincinity of several hundred lightyears, had a supermassive collapse as a supernova, we would all be dead too.

I can see that coming :! Earth is doomed either way :! we all know its coming but we don't seem to do anything big to change that outcome.

Population is at its record ever high
Tree are getting chopped to make sure we die horribly
Earth lungs "amazon forest is doomed"
Asteroids are coming our way
Global warming is slowly destroying earth climate
Petrol fuel is running out (2050 no more fuel)
Crazy people are getting power to launch nukes or getting nukes in there possession "bush is one of them"

We are doomed by 2050 !

doesn't take a genius to know we have ****** it up big time for future generation.

ALL DOOMNES EVERWHERE :! now i shall wait for a response ! saying i am an idiot

So, I guess we couldn't just send a team up there to "drill"?

i'm sure bruce willis could find a way.

btw, i never did see the end of the movie... did they save the earth?

No they just moved to Mars, screw it Earth was too polluted anyway 😛

The earth is most certainly not facing complete destruction. (now, where's that link?) Last year, someone found a link to the top 10 most likely ways to destroy the earth. None of which, humans are capable of, and none of which involved a comet or asteroid.
Ask and you shall receive. Linky

LOL, I like the last part

"

What this guide is not

This is not a guide for those whose aim is merely to wipe out humanity. I can in no way guarantee the complete extinction of the human race via any of these methods, real or imaginary. Humanity is wily and resourceful, and many of the methods outlined inside will take many years to even become available, let alone implement, by which time mankind may well have spread to other planets; indeed, other star systems.

If total human genocide is your ultimate goal, you are reading the wrong document. There are far more efficient ways of doing this, many which are available and feasible right now. Nor is this a guide for those wanting to annihilate everything from single-celled life upwards, render Earth uninhabitable or simply conquer it. These are trivial goals in comparison.

This is a guide for those who do not want the Earth to be there anymore." nice stuff

I loved that part!

hehehe, very amusing thread. and that link to the top10 was also pretty amusing/interesting.

If we're talking about destroying life, i think that's impossible as well. even though we "poison and pollute" the natural environment, in a 1 billion yrs time, all that probably has minimal effects on life in general. Life will go on in whatever shape/form via evolution. We may no longer exist, but other lifeforms will.

how can you be so sure? if the earth totally evaporated in a big ball of fire, i doubt anything would be living.

yeah remember the earth came from a big bang!! "billions of years ago" and nothing exploded!! haha and then we all evolved over millions of years and just all of a sudden we stopped evolving to drive cars, pollute the earth, sit in front of a color tv and return to the form of soup and of course lets not forget we become "GODS" before we turn into soup! obviously.. 🙁

Umm.... I thought this forum was NOT for flaming each other?

The gravitational binding energy is relevant, but not crucial - after all, we don't need to separate every single molecule from every other, splitting the earth in two would quite suffice. I don't feel like doing the calculus here, but the energy would be less. Still titanic, though...

Earth lungs "amazon forest is doomed" (??? don't do drugs)
Asteroids are coming our way and have been for several billion years
Global warming is slowly changing earth's climate in the same cycle as has been occurring throughout measurable history
Petrol fuel is being phased out with alternative fuels, though we have enough to last at least 100 more years
Crazy people are getting power to launch nukes or getting nukes in there possession "bush is one of them" (??? don't do drugs)
Fixed.

What form of English is Australia using these days?
