Does anyone's ears ring a lot? Mine always have had like a light ringing that was probably due to listening to loud music or loud noises from my earlier years. I doubt there is any treatment for them.

My ears ring all the time if I listen hard, but it's not loud, and I've never really done anything to damage my hearing.

Sometimes my ears pop all of a sudden though, and my ears ring loud for like 5 seconds..its weird :Q

It's called Tinnitus. It is mainly genetic, but can be increased by loud noises throughout your life.

I have it (I listen to loud music / gun firing), but I doubt that is the culprit. My grandfather and father both have it real bad. I am only 21 and I have had it as long as I can remember. I mainly notice it when I am alone, at my parent's house (out in the country), with no TV or radio on. It is super silent out there and it drives me crazy.

There are pills for it, but I dunno if they work.

Everything I have read says that it NEVER gets better, and only gets worse with age. So I guess I have a lot of fun to look forward to.

Mine ring constantly...I thinking its from the near-dead fevers I had when I broke my neck...kinda makes me wonder how long my hearing will last.

That sounds exactly like me... I think my grandpa has what you speak of and my dad's pretty hard of hearing.

Sometimes if there is a lot of background noise then I can't hear someone speaking to me. Doh...

If you have tinnitus and still listen to gun firing w/o ear protection you are pretty foolish. Your hearing is a non-renewable resource.

How can I become a senior member without the witty banter? This is the off-topic forum, isn't it?

If you want serious medical advice I would suggest you consult a physician, not a bunch of computer nerds.

Plus, you're not the boss of me.

My grandfather and I have tinnitus but his is much worse than mine. But yeah, same here, I'm 21 and it drives me nuts sometimes. I've been taking pills for it and they seem to help a little bit.

Yes.
It was caused by an accident while servicing a sound system at a dept. store. Some dork hit the pager while I was servicing the amplifier and had a tone go off at 130dbA + less than a foot from my ear.
Damn near knocked me out. Never been right since.

Loud noises trigger tinnitus. So can stress , lack of sleep, too much caffeine, smoking, pot or tobacco, among many others.
I HAVE to use ear plugs if in the presence of loud noises otherwise, it's ringing all day long.
I have heard (BWAHAHAHAHAHHA) there are pills coming out that will mitigate the effects, but I haven't been able to try them yet.

I attended lots of concerts when I was younger without any protection and I haven't developed tinnitus though some of my friends have. I think I've become a lot more sensitve to loud noises as I've aged though. Additionally I can't tolerate two different sources of the same volume. Drives me insanely crazy and I HAVE to turn one off IMMEDIATELY.
