Earphones: opinions on UE triplefi 10's

I'm looking into getting a pair of high end earphones. read many great reviews on the UE triplefi 10's. there is quite a price difference between Amazon's and MSRP, makes me wonder why. Are these still considered as "high end"?
The new Sony XBR's also sound enticing, but not available until march.
I also like the Sonomax's EER and their custom making but not sure how good the actual earphones are other than Leo Laporte saying he really thought they sounded very good.

At that price, you may want to consider the Vsonic GR07. I recently purchased a pair. Once you find the best tip for your ear (it comes with so many different tips), they really sound wonderful. Very balanced. I was extremely impressed. They are very well received on Head-Fi.

I like the triple.fi 10's, they're a fun sounding iem with a slight/somewhat V sound signature. I like using them for pop and not as well mastered music.

so are they basically on par with most other "high end" earphones?
Amazon has them for like $160 and their supposedly $400. i'm just curious if they match up with others in that high price range.
What gets me is how their so cheap on sites like Amazon if their legitimately a high end earphone or are most all the other high end earphones just overpriced?

its not so much the money atm, i just want to make sure i'm getting something really good for what it is. If need be, i'll spend a few hundred if thats what it takes to get into the real high end stuff.

Pretty much all universal IEMs are overpriced, none are worth more than $200. If you want to get into high end go for an entry level custom ($400). Overall it's a much better investment because it is way more durable than any universal.
