I hope Nascar tests him with their own docters before letting him back on the track this time. I don't want to find out he was driving around for rest of the year before he was okay like the last concussion. Na$car probably won't since Jr is Mr. Favorite.

Confirmed on NASCAR.com that he does have a semi-concussion. Wonder what kind of crap this time since it was not announced last time.

NASCAR $ucks!

The point is, why would you want to watch someone turn left for 500 miles!?!

It's the competition, the strategy (yes, there is strategy in racing... Ryan Newman shows us that just about every race), the wrecks (as long as no one gets hurt), the rivalries, etc. Have you actually sat down and watched a race? I used to not care much for NASCAR but my fiance is a NASCAR fan. So, of course, I started watching NASCAR and I started liking it.

And Ryan Newman's wreck this year at the Daytona 500 was pretty bad, he flipped numerous times on the infield grass. Ken Schrader wrecked at Pocono. His car slid across the top of the wall and then, when it landed, it burst into flames. So, yes, nasty looking wrecks still happen today.

It was only a matter of time before a thread about NASCAR degraded into bashing.

Anyway, hitting the wall at anywhere over say 40 mph on the drivers side is a HARD HIT, trust me. I drive NASCAR modifieds and I hit the wall almost head-on at about 70 earlier this season, and it rang my bell pretty good. And that was with the entire front of the car to absorb the impact. On the driver's side, there isn't much there, so your body takes a lot of it. Believe it or not, a crash like Dale Jrs could have been potentially fatal a few years ago. There has been massive advances in safety in seats, harnesses and window nets the past few years since Dale Sr died, which have saved more than a few driver's lives.

Just a stupid sport that managed to get more spectators in one of the smallest tracks (Bristol: 160,000) than a Laker's game (20,000), 49ers game (68,000), and Dodgers (56,000 max) game combined.

NASCAR is fun. Pretty cool for filling time on the second monitor between football games. Especially when you catch a nice wreck.

Because after he lowered his window net, he lost consciousness...
Thank you, finally someone he knows exactly what happened.

I love nascar, call me a redneck, it just makes me feel better:)

The Dale Sr. wreck was extremely hard hitting and he was wearing his seat belt tightly as required along with the rest of his safety equipment. A closed face helmet would have not saved him at all. There was severe trama to his head.

When are we going to have normal cars where people regularly walk away after crashing at 140mph?

If you crashed a Civic at 140mph(assuming you could even get it up to that fast), there would be nothing left. :p

I remember the first CART race at held at the Fontana Motor Speedway Alex Zanardi lost it coming out of turn 4 (at 230 mph) on Friday practice and hit the wall. The onboard telemetry on the car recorded a 93g impact. Zanardi did not race that weekend but he survived with no ill effects though and he was conscious the entire time.

The AVERAGE speeds around that track were in the low 240mph. I think the qualifying speed was something like 243mph. I was at that race BTW.
