A64 3000+ with marking CBBID 0503FPAW

I've just found out from reading the forums here that the CBBID chips are very poor overclockers, sometimes even failing prime at stock clocks.

My questions are:
- Till when are/were the CBBID chips made? Are the newer Winchesters other steppings, with better oc'ing? For instance, were better steppings introduced in say week 10?

- Are ALL the CBBID chips bad, regardless of date? Or were the newer ones bad, with the earlier ones maybe better? Reason I ask is of course I have available only week 03 ones here at the moment.

It'll probably be three months or more before the Venices reach here in Pakistan. Damn AMD really needs to get their act together. I can't wait that long, just want to make sure the A64 Winchester I get can get up to at least 2.4GHz with no little overvolting. Hence your help is greatly appreciated :):D

Generally, any Winchester that's not a CBBID will perform adequately in overclocks. I hear that CBBIDs tend to max out at a 220 FSB, though I cannot agree to it since I've never owned one.

my cbbid 0502 has given me no probs. it went to 2.4 really easily and runs 24-7. stable as stable can get. i know a few other people that have had similiar, or better, results. like everything, it's the luck of the draw. good luck.

NOw look at my poll back a few months ago when there was only a handful of 05's out there and the average was 2.5-2.6ghz....maybe not all 3000+ models but early on it was alot easier.
