Big Brothers.
no serious relations until you are at least 26.
Don't relay them to us, but ask yourself what are two of the most significant events in your life??? What are 2 of the happiest events you remember? What are 2 of the worst/saddest events? If you can't answer these questions, then all of our input won't mean anything to you. If you can answer them, then compare those memories with some of the suggestions here, and see which ones "feel" right, or don't feel good at all.
During college I felt like the whole world was open and waiting for me. During my time in Peace Corps I learned things about myself and life, that I had never imagined. When i married, I thought i was answering some of the most important questions in my life. Helping deliver our daughter, only gave me more questions and more satisfaction. On and on and on.
............ie, college doesn't educate you; it teaches you how to adapt. Life educates you, and continuously shows you how much you still have to learn. Don't try and answer all the "questions" at your age, "live" alot more and you will find your own answers. But i will go out on a limb and imply a possible universal maxum: humor will always part of whatever you do, that leads to a betterment of your life. So never loose your sense of humor.

Get some guns, join a separatist militia group and begin paramilitary training. Then bail on those fools, go to Africa, and work as a mercenary. Win!

The problem is everything else I don't know. If I decide to go military I'll probably go for the Air Force (my university has Army and Air Force ROTC) and see if I could make flight school (screw the lack of demand). I also have an uncle who served 2 tours in the Air Force (albeit as an NCO), so I could get some info. I think if anything the experience would be worthwhile, but once again here's where I lack enough information to actually make a decision of this magnitude; and I know enough not to believe the ads/recruiters (Marine recruiter sucked my cousin into enlisting and now he's miserable). And for the record I'm not having any Top Gun fantasies or anything, I just honestly think I might like it (actually I'm pretty damn sure I'd like or love flying a fighter but that's the end without considering the means and the consequences).

Not wanting to join doesn't make you a coward. It's just not for everyone. I understand your point though of course.

Air Force is a good choice, but I think if you enlist, you enlist. If you don't qualify as a pilot or fail the training, the military still owns you. If you do get to be a pilot, remember that fighter pilots right now are mainly ground support.
Actually, here's an idea you could go for: Coast Guard. They are military, and you'll be working in/around your country more.

I don't have any medical conditions that would exempt me; and call me pompous, but I wouldn't fail. 🙂
And I know it's mostly ground support at the moment. Like I said, I'm not having any Top Gun fantasies.
