Look at Peace Corps.

Big Brothers.

no serious relations until you are at least 26.

Don't relay them to us, but ask yourself what are two of the most significant events in your life??? What are 2 of the happiest events you remember? What are 2 of the worst/saddest events? If you can't answer these questions, then all of our input won't mean anything to you. If you can answer them, then compare those memories with some of the suggestions here, and see which ones "feel" right, or don't feel good at all.

During college I felt like the whole world was open and waiting for me. During my time in Peace Corps I learned things about myself and life, that I had never imagined. When i married, I thought i was answering some of the most important questions in my life. Helping deliver our daughter, only gave me more questions and more satisfaction. On and on and on.

............ie, college doesn't educate you; it teaches you how to adapt. Life educates you, and continuously shows you how much you still have to learn. Don't try and answer all the "questions" at your age, "live" alot more and you will find your own answers. But i will go out on a limb and imply a possible universal maxum: humor will always part of whatever you do, that leads to a betterment of your life. So never loose your sense of humor.

Thanks for the advice, but I could only answer the first 2 with any benefit. The 2 worst are substantially worse than the average person and have no direct relation to my questions.

Coincides well enough. I don't know what I don't like, and I know that what I do like may be subject to change if I find something better in that unknown mass of options.

Just keep doing what you're doing... when its time for a change, you'll know.

I'm 22 and almost done with college. I know exactly what I want to do, but need to wait until I am out of college first.

Just stay in school till you're 30. Quadruple major if you have to! I sure would have with this girls gone wild generation out there. Definite don't join military.

PS Seriously you're in no hurry. Just get your major you're closest to, pursue other interesting things too, things will fall together. Time works like that.

The problem is everything else I don't know. If I decide to go military I'll probably go for the Air Force (my university has Army and Air Force ROTC) and see if I could make flight school (screw the lack of demand). I also have an uncle who served 2 tours in the Air Force (albeit as an NCO), so I could get some info. I think if anything the experience would be worthwhile, but once again here's where I lack enough information to actually make a decision of this magnitude; and I know enough not to believe the ads/recruiters (Marine recruiter sucked my cousin into enlisting and now he's miserable). And for the record I'm not having any Top Gun fantasies or anything, I just honestly think I might like it (actually I'm pretty damn sure I'd like or love flying a fighter but that's the end without considering the means and the consequences).

Air Force is a good choice, but I think if you enlist, you enlist. If you don't qualify as a pilot or fail the training, the military still owns you. If you do get to be a pilot, remember that fighter pilots right now are mainly ground support.

Actually, here's an idea you could go for: Coast Guard. They are military, and you'll be working in/around your country more.

lol, why not? You realize that if nobody joined then your cowardly ass might get drafted right?

Not wanting to join doesn't make you a coward. It's just not for everyone. Personally, I would rather have the people defending my country in the military actually want to be there so they do a good job. I understand your point about the whole no one wanting to join thing of course.

I didn't say that it did. Zebo is a coward however.

I don't have any medical conditions that would exempt me; and call me pompous, but I wouldn't fail. 🙂

And I know it's mostly ground support at the moment. Like I said, I'm not having any Top Gun fantasies.

it sounds like you do too much.

i prescribe a year or two of nothing to simmer yourself down a bit.

you're young. i've been doing nothing since i finished uni. everyone needs a couple years of nada! 😛

i would say finish engineering. Being an engineer teaches you how to think analytically which allows you to succeed at almost any job. It's also a very versatile major as in you can apply it in different ways. Once you get some real world experience you can decide whether you want to pursue another field and can always get a graduate degree. The plus side your job will prob pay for some or even all of it. Another word of advice I'd like to give you is get an internship or a co-op. It will make things in the classroom a lot easier and you will take more away from the class than what is needed to pass the test.

A lot of very small medical conditions can exempt you, as can prescriptions you've been given. I was personally disqualified for psoriasis on my scalp, something I never even gave a second thought until they asked me during the preliminary interview.
