The first time I flushed my ears was at the recommendation of my doctor. He was like "WOW, that's a lot of wax." When I flushed them, I was truly amazed at what came out. I had no idea that there was so much space inside my ears.

how do you "wash" your ears by just tilting your head to one side? instructions?

rinse would be a better term.

I use q-tips,
but have also used the earwax kit;And gone to the Dr,to have my ears flushed, more than once.

I use q-tips 2x a week, no problems.
I've heard that using Q-tips can actually be the casue of the problem.. because it pushes more back into your ear than it takes out, causing those plugs....

I actually had a doctor tell me that. Of course, I can't live without my Q-tips!

well the right way to do it is to use a damp qtip, and just sorta clean the sides..not too deep. that way the stuff sticks to it.

doc did it tome when i was a kid. big metal syringe full of water... swirling action type.. squirted a butt load in..and the lump came out

I think we're all wondering about that except for the 1 guy/girl that posted he/she did that.

Last time I used one of those kits I ended up with a MAJOR ear infection.

I used to go to the Doc. when I was a kid and have my ears cleaned. He would get BIG plugs out of there. I can't get it done by myself though. My ears canals are so small, a Q tip is a TIGHT fit. 🙁

man is it just the koreans i know (including me) that clean out our own ears with a think bamboo stick with a curved little end??

And it feels good, too!
(I'm not korean, but my dad's third wife was)
I'm Chinese and there's a gold metal one ... wouldn't you fear the bamboo would break in there ?

<-- chinese also, i use a silver metal one, and yup, feels good...kinda soothing actually... 🙂

<== Viet. Its a metal stick. Never seen a bamboo/wooden one. Usually its gold when I see it though.

every couple years ill go deaf in one ear so i know its time to use the removal kit. and i get huge chunks.
i think it all depends on the person.

OMG, my cat loves ear wax i was laying down one day and my ear tickled and i picked it and i put my hand back down and my car smelled it and started licking, i thought it funny so i tried and my cat kept licking my finger, i just thought the cat was weird, i wonder why they like ear wax so much?

theres this candle thing that removes ear wax too i believe.

Art Bell was talking about it on his show about a year ago i think

I have used those numerous times. They remove an amazing amount of crud from your ears. I'm not quite sure how it works, but my guess is that the candle is heating the air up which loosens the way, combined with some sort of natural vacuum thanks to the candle being hollow.

Dont bother with this, get the candle kit, we have to do my daughters ears with Dibromo to keep the clean of wax, she has tons of buildup.
Well someone told us to try out the candle/heat method...I would look in her ears after the rinse and think they were good to go...we did the canlde thing right after we did the rinse this time and I was shocked!

tons of stuff came out, chunks of it, amazing to say the least. She actually said she could hear better.
Possible placebo effect? Did you read the link above?

No placebo effect. I've used it, and I've seen how much crap comes out. It is not candle wax either. The thing literally gets plugged with a bunch of crap (of course I don't use a ton of Q-tips either, so my buildup may be more than others. But the fact is that after it was done it had definitely cleaned stuff out.
