I was told by my doctor to wash out my ears while showering than dry them with a 90/10 solution of isopropyl alcohol/vinegar. This is suppose to dry out the excess water and kill fungus/infections/etc... I have been doing this for several months and it seems to work fine. I have been noticing an improvement in my hearing (I might have a slightly torn eardrum, my hearing in left ear greatly improves if I pressurize my ear by blowing my nose).

I was having my eyes checked for new glasses the other day and that doctor told me that my right optic nerve is showing signs of degeneration. I know you are not suppose to drink rubbing alcohol or you can go blind. I am wondering if the isopropyl alcohol is somehow getting to my optic nerve (I understand the right optic nerve crosses over to the left side of the brain).

I do want to get my ears clean but not at the chance of going permanently blind.

It is safe to use hydrogen peroxide to clean your ears. I would never use alcohol.

Yup, hydrogen peroxide + an ear dropper. I was literally at the doctor's last week & he told me to do that.
