Digital downloads via Origin. I doubt any of the keys will be steam activatable.

Which makes me sad. For some reason. I know I'll still have the game and can create that little shortcut in Steam if I want, but it still makes me sad :(

I've read it's possible to add Vietnam to a Steam BBC2, don't know for sure tho'.

Does Bad Company or Vietnam have any co-op modes on the PC ?

This is possible, since the Vietnam code is actually added in-game. Bad Company 2 is all about co-op. It's a multiplayer game. Just not the campaign, which is there for your amusement only.

I have a small desire to get Burnout Paradise, even though I have it on the 360. I think the added visuals of the PC plus 3D vision would make it worth playing again.

Is Origin a steam-like platform, or a GOG-style setup where you just download the installer?

I believe it's like Steam; I just received this e-mail:

The name of your EA account has changed. Going forward, your EA account will be called an Origin™ account. Your login and password are the same, and all EA account information is in your Origin account.

Origin is EA's new gaming platform where you can find, purchase and download all the best content from EA. It's your digital playground for EA games and exclusive content.

The Origin application is available for download at www.origin.com. This desktop application will allow you to connect with friends, and see what they are playing. You can also manage your games library and digitally download and play games from EA.

What you need to know about Origin:

• Your EA account is now called an Origin account.
Your login and password are the same, and all EA account information is in your Origin account.

• Origin is the new name of the EA Store™.
Browse and purchase EA titles quickly and easily, with exclusive pre-order offers.

• The EA Download Manager is also now called Origin.
Use it to download and play PC games from anywhere in the world.

• Origin lives where you live
On your mobile phone, desktop, or the web, Origin is always there.

I may go ahead and grab a couple of these games then. :hmm:

It's more of a turnoff than a turnon to me - I've always wanted to play spore, and this is the perfect price, but meh, between it not being on the Win 7 compatible list, and (possibly) requiring another platform installed on my machine... I'll just say I'm glad I've got a little time to decide.

mercenaries 2 is so worth 5 bucks

Does the note about online services being discontinued figure into that recommendation at all? Can you still play with others at all, and does it matter?

Because it seems like it might be a fun enough game on it's own.

I'm pretty sure you don't need origin to play the game, just to download it. I am pretty sure I uninstalled Origin at one point and was still able to play BFBC2.

Spore runs fine on Windows 7 - my kids are happy with that little tidbit.

Origin is still pretty much just like EADM - it downloads a full installer for current titles and installs them silently. There are options on whether/where to store the installers for future use if needed (default is to discard them). Future titles, however, are expected to integrate Origin directly similar to the way Steam does.

a few years ago I paid 2 bucks for it and still regretted it. it has a screwed up save system that can make you lose massive amounts of progress each time you start the game back up.

Wow that's some pretty good deals. I guess they really want to attract people to their Origin service. I've never used it or even the EA Downloader though.

Currently I'm just in a big Bad Company 2 mode since buying it in May during a Steam sale. At $5 it makes sense to get BC2: Vietnam but I've heard there's hardly any players for it and it isn't as good as BC2 anyway.
