EA bidding on exclisive rights for the NBA now!

I didn't even know this was legal.

I enjoy many of the EA Games but they are taking this way too far.

Competition is great

A monopoly over sports and whatever else may come, is not.

As I said in the other thread, if EA buys the rights for the NHL.. someone is going to get hurt, badly.

Then blame the NHL, not EA...

The NFL opened up the bidding this spring to all of the publishers. What did you expect EA to do... Stand by while some other publisher snatched up the rights?

Like I've said before... I'm as big of a NFL2k fan as anyone else. I haven't bought a Madden product since NFL2k came out on the Dreamcast. But I don't blame EA for this.

I hear what you are saying, I just think this has gone too far.

If your game is better, it should sell more [Not always the case, I know]
If your game isn't good enough to significantly outsell your competitor, make more worthwhile upgrades to the game so it will do so.

Question Is NFL2k5? online, if so are they still allowed to update the game/rosters?

The NBA should reject the offer, and any further offer unless it gets huge concessions from EA. Hopefully, for the good of competition, this doesn't happen, but personally, I'd still play basketball games even if the 'real' players weren't featured in it. Cross marketing is pervasive though ...
