Link - New heroine, new story, new controls, new weapons. Dead Space Extraction tells the story of the events that lead up to Dead Space as a handful of colonists try to escape a mining colony. Extraction will also feature co-op gameplay and is scheduled to release this fall. Video in the link.

I loved the 360 version when I passed it. I even started it again wearing the military suit. Only thing that makes me sad about this version is its first person, not third like the previous one. I'm still going to get it and play the hell out of it though.

Actually, it's not even a FPS. It sounds like an 'on-rails shooter'. link

With the announcement of Dead Space Extraction for Wii, the one element that may have been receiving mixed reactions is the fact that the game is on-rails. One may be wondering why EA decided to go this way. Executive producer Steve Papoutsis has explained the reasoning for their on-rails decision:

?Extraction is not your typical Rail Shooter. Our goal is to innovate and push the genre forward like Dead Space did for third-person action survival horror.

When we started designing the game we had a ton of important elements from Dead Space that we needed to retain:

1. Exciting and rewarding gameplay
2. A horrific experience set in visually stunning environments
3. Incredible mood and sound
4. A mature and thought provoking story
5. Unique, terrifying, and satisfying enemies, weapons and bosses

Creating an intimate horror experience is a central tenet for Extraction and moving to a first person perspective felt like a great fit for the Wii allowing us the ability to create the most intense experience possible on this platform.?

ach! WTF. not buying/renting/talking about this anymore. On-rails shooters are such a waste of time and are an insult to gamers everywhere.

That's why it's being released on the Wii. 😉

To each his own. When I'm in the mood for a rail shooter, I enjoy playing a rail shooter. Definitely not an insult to anyone.

😕

So, it's an on-rails shooter then?

sounds like they might give you options as to when you move and which direction you take, as opposed to being completely along for the ride and just operating the gun
