CoreTemp 0.99.3 reports 40C, TjMax 100C
RealTemp 2.70 reports 25C, TjMax 85C

In Realtemp, Test Sensors reports movement of 0.

Under full load with P95 or OCCT, temps remain the same. I only ran the tests for 20 minutes each. What am I doing wrong?

edit for current hardware:

E8400 @ stock speeds
Asus P5K
2x1GB Ballistix @ 6400

you have the newest versions of both programs? Can you show us a full load P95/orthos screenshot of cpu-z and realtemp/coretemp?

you have an old version of realtemp which is displaying incorrect tjmax. coretemp is right and it shows vid 1.25. You have an E0 running 1.17v not overclocked and only 2 mins into Prime95 - this is probably the reason coretemp sits at 40c. It is also possible you have stuck DTS's.

Try 9 x 400 in BIOS for 3600mhz (simple overclock - if you're up to the challenge), and then run 15 mins of LinPack with coretemp & newest realtemp open. See what temps you get then. edit- and do a screenshot too! :)

It was only two minutes for the purpose of the screenshot. Temps remain the same after 20 minutes, not normal I'd say. RealTemp is the latest version on the site...what do you use? I understand the TjMax, and why it's being reported different. I am choosing not to OC yet, I had both a 6600 and a 2180 (stock and OC'd) on this board that reported temps just fine. If the DTS's are stuck, is there a way to "unstick" them?

BIOS was @ 1103 prior to install. Anyways, looks like OC to 400x9 + Linkpack created enough heat to register in RealTemp. This 8400 runs cooler than any CPU I've seen to date. I ran Linpack @ stock speeds, temp went to 41C just at the end. After OC, Linpack pushed the temp to 51C. Thanks for the help, btw using a TRUE :p

I figured this was the culprit. Your rig has incredible potential.
