E8400 still backordered?

Picked up a retail E8400 at Fry's in Austin for 225.00 Friday. They said they'd just come in, so it looks like Fry's at least has some availability for a relatively cheap price.

The most consistent way of getting one right now appears to be grabbing one at a local Fry's store, but that only helps those that are physically near one or have access to one. Short of that, there really isn't much to go for online.

nvm out of stock there too lol

i think the only place ive seen it is amazon and it was selling for 300......................

at that price its not worth it anymore. I bought mine at 209 and if I had to buy a replacement one I would expect to do it for less. This is just the same kind of price gouging that happened on the 8800GT cards.

Onsale.com claims that they should receive a shipment on 3/15/08... keeping my fingers crossed. At $192, not a bad deal...

They are still extremely hard to find in the distribution channel. We've got a few shipping from the Intel factories right now, but it's still not many, and we had to pull a lot of strings to get them. Supplies are just not out there yet 🙁

Uh...It says $225 when I go to onsale. Did you come in here to advertise for them?

LOL. Sorry couldn't resist. Can't see how the price would change in 30 minutes from your post 🙂 But I could be wrong...

I have been checking Newegg, Chiefvalue and ExcaliberPC and they have been out of stock for at least a week. And today, Newegg's price of the E8400 went up $10. Hope it doesn't get too crazy.

Newegg has been out of stock for nearly a month, I got pretty annoyed because I just missed it when my friend advised me to wait a bit for prices to go down. Instead, it went from $215 to where it's at now and OOS. Should've jumped on it then..

That was partially why I waited too, $225 avg price seemed way too high for something that was supposed to go for $190, had hoped to see it go down to $200 on Newegg but it never happened..

Just try adding that to your cart.

MicroCenter online has been OOS for nearly 2-3 weeks now too, as I've been checking it daily. Only way to get one from MicroCenter is to go to their B&M.

Yeah I just gave up on the e8400 and bought a super cheap e2180 to overclock until prices and supply even back out to like $190 or so.

MicroCenter claims to Price Match and beat all competitors (They specifically mention Newegg and TigerDirect I believe) on their Intel CPUs, but to really take advantage of it, you need to be near a B&M because their online service is rated horribly.
