I have a wolfdale e8400 processor and a p5n-e mb.
I also have the latest bios 0803 from ASUS (although I think it is beta).
I have 2 gigs of crucial ballistix RAM pc6400 800 mhz 4-4-4-12
I have a cruddy Nvidia 7300 LE graphics card
320gb WDC harddrive
52x lightscribe or light-on or whatever it is
My sound is on board.
I am using Windows XP.

Although this board is supposed to support the new CPU, I cannot figure out how to make my system stable. The problem is that it just freezes completely and I have to reset. Sometimes I will be in Windows XP for an hour with everything working fine before this happens. Most times I cannot even get into Windows.

All the drivers are up to date. I have disabled all the extra options for the CPU chip in the BIOS. I have manually set my ram timings to 4-4-4-12. I have set the voltage manually to manufacturers recommendations. I have tried running the cpu at less than stock settings. I am using the retail fan, and an exhaust fan (120mm) on my Antec III case. According to ASUS probe II the temperatures stay around 38 degrees c and in the bios it's around 45 c. The MB is a steady 35 to 37 degrees c. I have made the cpu and ram unlinked. I have tried everything I know to... I cannot get my system stable.

When I attempt to run MEMtest it freezes. My buddy says this means it is probably either the motherboard, or a compatibility issue between the wolfdale and the motherboard (because there is no error about the mem).

Can anyone out there help me out? Tomorrow I will get an E6750 in the mail.. I am contemplating sticking that in and shipping the wolfdale back (if it is stable). I would much rather refuse the package and get a full refund. Somebody, anybody.... please help me!! Thanks in advance!

Relax your timings to 5 5 5 15, at 2.2v(default) and see if that helps... Also, i found that in my MB, i had a hard time getting my crucial ram stable, so i changed it out for some 2x2Gb Corsair ram, and that worked like a charm.
