I've heard that the lastest bios (even per XFX and EVGA) that this is supposed to work.

I updated my bios with an e2160, I tested the chip in an ip35 pro from abit (no I will NOT use that god awful board)... yet it will not post with the e8400.

specs:

e8400
4gb corsair pc2-6400
xfx 680i LT with latest bios
dual 9600gt super clocked in SLI
pci 6200 for extra monitor support
1100 watt tagan
gemini II (once I get this working)
2 seagate 1tb SATAII drives
2 samsung 20x sata burners
2 samsung 20x ide burners
cooler master cm690
xp pro sp2

the system runs smooth with the 2160 overclocked to 3.2ghz, and SHOULD run with the e8400

any help would be great.

yeah yeah yeah, bought it all at work... so much for a budget system 🙂

disconnect the power plug to the wall, and try to clear cmos by pulling the cmos jumper off for ~a minute before putting it back on and it should boot. if you do get the system going and plan on oc'ing it, tell me how far you can clock that e8400 to, i have the same motherboard and im curious about how well it will do with an e8400.

alright man im extremely curious about how far you can go with that e8400 on the 680i (with reasonable temps / voltages), good luck overclocking
