Newegg has reached a new low charging 50% higher than MSRP.

Their price gouging is getting rediculous.

FYI the $163 figure is the cost for 1000 units of the model not msrp. Another factor to consider is that retailers are going to charge higher for these new models in an effort to move older stock, notice the pricing on the e6750 which is what the 8200 is replacing. Till they have run out of these models, I doubt the e8200's will drop too much in price.

$163 may be the per 1000-unit price, everyone knows that, but in the past this has not kept retailers from charging the quoted per-1000 price or even less. The per-1000 price of the Q6600 is $266, yet newegg currently sells it for $249 and even when the price first dropped last July, they were charging only $275. No way is newegg selling it at those prices if they pay $266 for it.

Newegg is making a killing on these E8200's, you can't blame them for making a profit, but they have gotten rediculous recently in terms of prices. They've gotten too big and too confident and they are now taking advantage of their customer base.

If people would stop buying items right after launch from Newegg at those ridiculous prices, then they would stop doing it but no....

People STILL buy items while the gouging is taking place so therefore...

They are not going to stop doing it. To them it is just business.

It sucks but that's just business.

Newegg is already showing out of stock for the E8200. WOW! Even at that price!

It is not Newegg's fault. Nor is it any retailer's fault. Something's worth is NOT based on the MSRP. Something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. And obviously, people are willing to pay alot for these chips, so they are worth more. Once the supply is up, and/or demand is down, prices will stablize.

Yeah, this is getting nuts. $230 for a CPU that is supposed to be like $170? And an E8400 that is supposed to be like $190 and it's now $260!? Why the crap can't they make more of these CPUs than others, because it seems the price gouging is seriously getting out of hand, and also being out of stock this much is also ridiculous.

For the last time, this is NOT price gouging. Holy smokes some people cant read!

Price gouging is more related to essentials, such as Gas, Milk, Electricity, etc. You dont NEED a new Wolfdale. All retailers are doing is charging what people will pay. Maybe the people are dumb for paying $240 for the E8200. But remember, many people dont give a crap if something is over-priced by $50. $50 is not a lot of money to alot of people.

Hey 10acjed that's a cool comparison, i like this one which shows how it stacks up in real world work [blah] envirenment...
http://www23.tomshardware.com/...&model2=1096&chart=438

This shows the E8xxx series to be real work & powerhouses for the $$$
Glad i got my E8400 for $214 before they caught on !!
While i don't like seeing the EGG & the other stores charging that much over MRSP , it's the Ol'Supply & Demand game with a hot product !!
Maybe April with more E8xxx's & the new Quads releas will balance the market !!
But you can bet with the E8xxx's popularity there are many takers on this E8200 even @ that price !!

What'cha all think ??? Ol'Pal Gary :D

I do NEED to upgrade because I NEED to play Crysis and CoD4.

Hey, if Intel wants to kill PC gaming, that's going to be a bigger problem for them than for gamers. Gamers will just go buy consoles and cheap laptops, and Intel is going to have a hard time convincing grandma she needs a quad-core, global-warming monstrosity to read her email.

The pc business has to make money on some stuff. It's all supply and demand. Intel is smart enough to control the supply, just like the arabs control the supply of oil. It's good business. I'll wait until the price drops.
