Is the difference between the two just speed or does the E8400 offer more? I odn't think the $50 is worth it for 500MHz and both seem open to OCing.

I have the E7200 and this chip is just great. Can't say much on the E8400 as I haven't owned this chip. But have read many, many threads about it and all have been very positive. With the extra cache and higher default fsb and 3.0, the price that "jaredpace"
has mentioned, you wouldn't be dissapointed at all if you were to get it. I am very sure you would be a happy camper! :)

Thx. Well it's actually for my brother. I'm holding off to see what comes of the i7s. My P4 is going to have to hold out for a bit longer.

hands down the E8400 @ $139

Easier to OC, more cache, faster FSB, all amount to far more than a $19 benefit

Wouldn't say that its easier to overclock, but right now seems to be the better deal.
