I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he wants to buy one overseas and put it in his luggage...

Otherwise, yeah, that does sound a bit odd and vaguely suspicious.

HAHA..LOL...No, actually, it`s for my friend, he is a pilot, and he wants to buy me smth from USA, and they don`t check his luggage when he arrive here, he is relieved of customs...He told me that it shouldn`t be so big, so that he know how much space to leave besides his clothes etc..
Now, someone with reasonable answer?

No idea about the E7200. My E6600 box measures 15cm x 10cm x 17cm. About the size of a box of Pop Tarts :p.

The only really oversized boxes for Intel CPUs that I'm aware of are the QX boxes - they're much larger to be able to accommodate the larger CPU cooler.

I happen to have an E7200 box right here. It measures 6¾" high, 6" wide, and 4" deep, which equates to 171.5mm high, 152.4mm wide, and 101.6mm deep.

1. take cpu out of box.

2. Put cpu inside static bag.

The cpu is very tiny and could fit inside your friends back pocket.

Forget the sink, save your friend the hassle, and just buy an aftermarket in your country.

. :T

Chances is, if you need to RMA, its gonna probably cost you more to ship the cpu back and have intel ship it to you, thats if they do out of country RMA's for a chip bought in the US.

:T

So all you want is the chip, forget the box and everything else.

Hopefully if he was going to steal one he would aim a little higher...say a QX9770

I think you might be the first person to actually get the Halo reference :p. Yes, it's a reference to the ship Miranda Keyes commanded...technically, it's called "InAmberClad", but that sounds retarded for a handle. Why "AmberClad"? Because someone had already chosen "Foehammer" (the Pelican pilot gal from Halo 1) for their handle.

Well I think alot of PC people kind of dislike the Halo series....what about Pillar of Autumn?

You could have picked Glamdring which was the elven name for the sword Foe Hammer in the Hobbit

i think you'd be better off just taking it out of the box.

the cpu is small, and the heatsink is actually pretty poor (its ok for running stock and thats about it).

its 6" x 7" x 4". i dont have a metric tape measure, but you can convert that yourself.

Ok, thanks, I know about no returning, it is risky, but risk works out for me, hope that CPU will work for a longer time too...i guess it is better and easier that way...I might buy some ram too...I`m thinking of some OCZ reaper hpc series...ummm

what is smth? smith? smooth?

You could try to get your transporter to get an OEM cpu, they come in fairly small packages. I don't believe that the intel CPU's have any protective casing around them when sold retail (that isn't part of all the packaging).

They do, however, come with a little black plastic pin guard to keep you from rubbing off the gold or something.

Of course they do. You didn't think they just put a loose CPU into a box with a 1/2 pound heatsink, did you? They come in a protective clamshell, just like AMD's do.
