Hey Guys, The reviews I am doing on the Q6600, will they be good reviews. The reason I ask this is because I have been hearing that the New Q6600 will have the G0 Stepping? And if you don't mind, can you please explain what is this G0 Steeping?

THX!

the G0 stepping is essentially the latest production run of the Q6600 - refined process, usually results in cooler temps and better tolerances

My main work program does database number crunching but unfortunately doesn't multithread so the e6850 o/c'd to a stable 3.8-4ghz is a no-brainer for me.

Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme is the best from the choices you've listed but it's also the most expensive. The $47 Ultra version linked above seems like a really good deal, especially if you have a fan to back it up, it's a good choice since it's more compact than the Tuniq.

SVC has the Tuniq Tower on special for $42 and it already comes with a fan.

According to Anandtech, Ultra 120 and Tuniq are roughly on par. Having said that, it's very important to not drop all your eggs into 1 review.

So let's see what else we can find:

Zalman CNPS9500 beats out Ultra 120 - SilentPCReview.com
Zalman CNPS9500 beats out Ultra 120 but both get crushed by Tuniq - Madshrimps
Tuniq beats Scythe Ninja, Big Typhoon and Zalman CNPS9500 by at least 7*C at load - Xbitlabs

So I'd say Tuniq is better value, but Ultra Extreme for best performance.

There is also a new cooler by Thermalright called Ultima 90. It packs 6 heatpipes and performs really well. Outperformed Tuniq Tower at Xstremesystems

Right now the only place I found this is out of stock - Heatsink Factory
