E6700 processor temp?

What should be the normal temp of a Core2 duo E6700? When I checked mine in the bios of the motherboard, it was reading about 50-55 C.
That seemed hi to me. I am not overclocking and this is a brand new system.

My room temp is about 75-77 right now. I am using the stock fan. I have a lianli pc6070 plus case. It sits in a desk compartment (one that is just to the right of my legs when I sit at the desk) but it should still have plenty of ventilation. What is normal for those C2duos?

Whoa, what a difference on reporting temp and Frequency:

Core temp 0.95 reports (E6600):
Frequency: 3590.33mhz (448.79 X 8)
CPU temp 72C at full load using Orthos

CPU-Z V1.4 reports (E6600):
core speed: 3191.3mhz
bus sped 398.9mhz; rated FSB 1595

Speedfan V4.32 (e6600) reports:
CPU temp 104C at full load right now (no joke)
core 0: 72C
core 1: 72C

Can anyone clearify this for me? Why speedfan reporting odd temps?
also according to CPU-z, my system is at 3.2Ghz but core temp says its at 3.6Ghz which is it?

If you've set 395 in BIOS and CPU-Z is reading 398, then I would say that's probably the correct reading no?

With an 8x multi, that puts you at 3160. Since CPU-Z thinks it's 398, it's telling you 3190. I would bet that's the correct reading.

What's wrong with CoreTemp? Dunno it reports fine on my system.

Try Intel's TAT (Thermal Analysis Tool).

I would bet that 72C is correct though. Dunno what your voltage is, but I would not be satisfied with that temp. Maybe at 3.8Ghz....
