e6700 came in with this info:

6700 SL9S7
L627A696

Is it any good? If it's not then I may send it back for a new (hopefully better) version.
I don't know how to read week/stepping :p

Thanks in advance.

BTW, I'm using a P5W DH to OC soon... waiting on UPS to come in with some more hardware.

Awesome, thanks. I saw some online that were 28. Turns out that 27 and 28 are awesome.
Anyone have one of these babies?

BTW, what is the possibility that my processor is DOA? like 5%? (I'm gonna lap it but dont want to build my system then take it apart, sand, and again rebuild)

I'd test before i lap it... only lap it if you are getting crap temps and the HS is not seating right....
If it does not satisfy, then lap.

Test first, lap only if necessary. I'd avoid lapping the IHS if I could. Even though I lapped my E6400. Reason being you can resell it when you upgrade down the line, and you may want the warranty at some point. Don't tell me overclocking voids the warranty when nobody can tell what speed you're running the CPU at. Unless the voltage you give it kills it in which case they may be able to tell it fried by your error.

I read over on xs that the ihs an the newer chips was not nearly as bad.

I'm gonna lap mine when i get it, but i will definitely test it first.

lapped mine -- was not so bad as other I saw on the net. I gave up to a 2000 grit finish. EXTREMELY reflective. I'm so happy my temps are 25 idle @ 3.33 Ghz so far and 30 load...

Sorry couldn't take pics cos I've no digi camera...and I was too excited to be bothered :p

I'm using the scythe infinity (Which btw comes very well lapped (seems 1000 grit -- I gave it 1000 then 2000) with the fan on the bottom facing up which leads to another fan that out. Also a fan on the back that blows cold air in.

used a REALLY small amount of AS5 spread on with a razor.
