Hey guys. I come to you with a bad problem I'm having with my E6700 and 680i Motherboard. I used ArcticSilver's Ceramique recently to control my CPU's and Northbridge temperatures. I'm still getting temperatures above 54 Celsius for both of them. I'm quite sure Ive installed the heatsinks correctly, and I cleaned and applied the Thermal Paste correctly (as per instructions at the ArcticSilver site). I'm baffled and the technical support representative at the AS call center is as well. Could any one please help me out? Thanks alot in advance.
 
76 F. There's Sufficient airflow in the case as well. I just finished testing it again with AS5 in the NB and SB, no luck same temp.
 
I have that board and it just plain runs hot on the NB. Not as hot as yours so if indeed airflow is adequate I would stress test it for a few hours then shut it down for the night for 4 days or so let the ceramique cure. If after that you still have issues you may have a bum board that just plain runs hot. Be nice and ask tech support what you should do-ie RMA.
 
If you don't use the 'optional' fan that comes included with the board, the NB will easily reach 100C+ when overclocking. The best option is to replace both NB/SB cooling (you can't remove one or the other since they're connected), but if that's not your plan at least use the fan. It's a must.
 
Yep. Way ahead of you. Ive cleaned/replaced the thermal compound on both NB/SB and Ive always used the fan that was included.
