E6600 Heat Problems

I bought an e6600 in December and paired it with a Zalman CNPS7700-CU because I wanted cool temps and the ability to overclock in the future. I ran Prime95 today and my load temp was an astounding 75C. The system normally idles at about 40C. From what I've heard 75C is not the norm for load temps w/ the C2D's. My case is an Antec p180b with the 3 stock case fans running on high all the time so airflow shouldn't be a problem and the house is kept at a around 70F. Airflow shouldn't be a problem. Any ideas on what is going on?

Edit: Temps were gotten using the NVidia Monitor program.

hes talking about the E, not the Q.

maybe try reseating? the 7700 should handle it fine at stock speeds
 
how fast is your e6600 running? stock or oc?

my e6600 oc to 3.6ghz, idle at 58-60C. my tiny studio is very very hot, room temp ususally 70-80F. when it's loaded, the temp of e6600 is no more than 65C no matter what condition. After all that said, my setup is under H2O cooling.

if you have good cooler such as TR 90 mentioned above, it should not go above 70C, but your current temp 75C is nothing to affraid of... before i got my watercooling. i let the e6600 oc to 3.8ghz at 80C with stock cooling.
 
Run with the side open, if the temps drop signifigantly it's an airflow prob. What were your temps like when you set it up? Is it clean and uncluttered inside the case? filters? Is the heatsink secure?
 
The temps do not change when the case is open. The idle temps have been consistent since I built it in December (idles at 40-45C). Never did a full load test on it before now. The case is somewhat cluttered just because my 8800GTX takes up so much space but other than that it's clear. How do I tell if my HSF is secure?
 
I haven't used this heatsink. I just read an instalation review and it said your sink can twist slightly but not wobble.

"You should be sure not to tighten the screws overly tight as you run the risk of breaking the mounting bracket or even your board. All you need is consistent contact with the CPU die, a little sideways (rotational) wiggle is OK."

Is your cpu flat? My e6600 was concave bigtime.
Too much thermal paste?
